A shadow fell over him, blocking out the sun. He didn't complain though since he was trying to take a nap.
"So, this is where you have been instead of in class."
The corner of his lip tucked up, trying to form a half smile that was more like a soft smirk. "Bloody Bookworm," his tone of voice was soft and held no malice.
"Bloody prat," Hermione shot back.
The sun hit his closed lids as Hermione moved away from him. The sound of feet shuffled beside him and the grass rustled with Hermione's sudden movement. Before long, she was sitting beside him. Her soft, bushy hair tickled his shoulder and exposed neck when she leaned her head against his shoulder. The sweet scent that only belonged to her filled his senses.
"Don't you have Divination right about now?" Draco drawled.
Hermione snuggled closer to him. "I'm skipping. I don't know what possessed me to take that class in the first place."
Draco's eyes shot open. Hermione was skipping a class? "Please tell me I'm not influencing you?" If Potter or her other mates decided he was becoming a bad influence on her then they would certainly not leave him alone. It was bloody difficult to deal with them when they were furious.
"The professor is a wanker."
Draco turned his head to where the voice was coming from without disturbing Hermione. Ron was approaching them with a basket in his hand and not far behind him was Lavender.
"Why didn't you tell me they were coming?" He whispered to Hermione. Ron was already annoying enough but now there was Lavender. The girl was a bloody twit!
"Lavender caught me on my over. Behave." She whispered into his ear. The feel of her warm breath and soft lips making him even more annoyed with the intruders.
"Who knew Black Lake had such a nice spot," Ron said as he plopped down on a magicked blanket a few feet from where he and Hermione sat propped up against the tree.
Hermione shuffled until she was in a crouched position. Grabbing his hand, she stood up and ushered him toward the blanket. With a sich, he reluctantly followed his little Bookworm.
"Malfoy," Lavender sneered as a greeting.
"Brown," he responded in kind.
"Play nice you two," Hermione emphasized with a nudge of her elbow to his side. He shot her a look which she pointedly ignored.
"Ronnie-poo! Say ah!" Lavender cooed as she held up a pumpkin pastie for him to take a bite of.
Draco rummaged in the picnic basket until he found a sugar quill. He leaned back on his hands and nibbled on the sugary sweet. He didn't like the fact that his nap was rudely interrupted but this was quite nice. Maybe he and Hermione should do this again without the tag-a-longs.
