Note from the author:
This chapter is dedicated to IntrovertPandaa, because after 2 months I didn't even hoped to recieve at least one more vote. Thank you !
- "Ummm ... Why you asking?". - I said, trying to stay polite, but feeling cold shivers running down my spine.
- "Just wanted to know are we heading the same way, so we can go to our homes together". - She sincerely smiled and looked at me, waiting for an answer.
I relaxed a bit but still kept suspicious.
- Oh, sure I do. - I carefully said.
- Perfect! Do you mind if today we'll walk together?
- I don't mind, no ... let's go. - I said with an awkward smile.
For the next thirty minutes, we just walked throw the forest in silence, until Lil decided to start talking first.
- It looks like you know this forest pretty well, right ? - The answer to this question was quite obvious, so I answered without a second thought.
- Of course I do, I walk here every day.
- Yeah ? ... Strange. Then why Liz got lost, when you were here, with her ?
I felt cold shivers running down my spine as I slowly began to understand why Lil invited me to walk with her in the first place. But I still printed a fake smile on my face, while answering her.
- Well, the problem is that when Liz went missing I wasn't with her.
- Oh really ? That's not what I heard.
- What do you mean ?
- When Liz was talking on the phone she said your name and told you to meet her at the bus stop. That was an hour before she disappeared.
I stopped and so did Lil.
- What are you implying ? - I wanted my question to sound calm, but instead I asked it almost hissing from raising anger and fear.
Lil raised her eyebrows at my tone.
- Only that you are not a nice and homely girl you are trying to look like.
I took a deep breath and tried to smile at Lil again.
- Listen, I know that you are going throw hard times after Liz died, so let's just forget all the things that you just said ... and probably didn't mean, okay ?
- No. I may not know how, but I do know what that night you did something to my sister. And I will do everything in my power to prove that you are the one to blame. Oh, and we arrived at my home, by the way. Well, see you later !
First of all I didn't understand the reason why Lil's tone suddenly changed so much, but after looking at the porch of her house I saw her parents standing there.
I quickly said hi to them and walked back to my home, which was very close to Lily's.
Jack popped into my room.
- Mom wants you downstairs.
- Coming. - I sighed, putting away my homework.
- Mom, you called me ?
- Yes, I just wanted to ask you to cut some carrots for me.
- Oh, okay then. - I took a large knife from the counter and started cutting carrots, but after a few moments my finger slipped and the knife cut right into my skin.
- Ouch !
- Are you okay ?! - Mom worriedly looked at me.
- Yeah, I'm fine, just nicked a little bit.
Mom sighed.
- Even in the kitchen you somehow always manage to cut, burn and hurt yourself. Are you sure that no one ever cursed you?
- I'm sure, mom, guess I'm just very clumsy. - I smiled and threw up my hands.
Mom got me a patch and kicked me out of the kitchen, not listening to my hesitations.
I continued trying to finish my homework, but my thoughts kept returning to what Lil said. How much more did she know ... and how much more she wanted to ?
After two and a half hours of pointless staring at the wall, I decided to try and write the play for our theater.
I took the pen and started writing, and writing and writing ...
- Good morning class ! Oh Lord, Annabelle, you are so pale. Did you saw a ghost ?
