Twilight: Selene's Story

From Bad To Good

   As I wait I sit next to Darren, who is on the floor in Alice' room. He is out cold, the pain must've been a lot. I keep the light out and stay. That is until my phone rings. I look at it, it's Jasper. "Hello?"

"Hey, are you ok?"

"Yes, what's going on?"

"The tracker changed course. He's not after you or Darren. Still, I had to call you." I look at Darren.

"How is he?"

"Very still, like he's dead."

"Listen to what I have to say. You need to get away from him. If he turns and wakes up he's going to want to eat. Darlin' into my room."

"Okay." I close Alice' room door and go to his room and close his room.

"I will call you back." Before I can say anything he hangs up.

   I read Jasper's journal. It is so detailed. I finish it and go out to his balcony. I see Rose and Esme coming. I remember Jasper's requested. I stay quiet. Rose jumps by me, while Esme speeds off somewhere. "He will be okay. When he wakes up you need to go inside so he can hunt." I nod to show I understand.

"Everyone?"

"Bella is hurt, but she will survive." The worry set in. "She's in the hospital. She'll be out of the hospital soon." I relax a little. "Jasper is on his way. James is dealt with, Victoria disappered. Sel this is good thing."

"I know." I blink.

"Then why..."

"Darren."

   She smiles gently. "Darren chose this. I don't like it, but he made a choice."

"I want it too." I say, Rose stiffens.

"I know. I envy you guys get a choice. But your choosing wrong."

"I can't live without him. I can't leave this world knowing I'll leave out of it alone."

"I know that too. I respect your desicion." We hug. She pulls away and looks at the room door. "His heart stopped." She ushers me inside and shuts the balcony doors. She puts me in a corner near the balcony doors and guards me. I hear loud thuds. Rose gets her phone out and calls someone. "Alice, he's awake. Esme is trying to keep him away from Jasper's room. But right now he's stronger than all of us right now. Hurry I'll hold him off as much as I can." She hangs up. Esme is thrown through the door. I just watch wide-eyed.

   Darren comes through his eyes are red. His eyes lock with mine. "Darren she's your sister. Your twin." Esme tries while standing up. Esme charges and he back hands her through the balcony door. Rose charges and he throws her behind him. He does this while looking in my eyes. He speeds and pins me in the corner. Rose and Esme grabs his shoulders and throws him back. He gets up quickly, while they block me.

"Darren!" He looks at the balcony. Alice and Jasper stands in the doorway. He growls like he is protecting his food. I step out from behind Rose and Esme. They tried to stop me, but don't succeed. He starts to speed to me.

"Bubba." I say, voice breaking. He stops in front of me. "Please remember. Bubba come back to me. Remember our promise. Our promise that no matter what happens we'll protect each other."

   He struggles to restrain his self. He closes his eyes tightly and nods. I smile. "I need you to protect me, bubba."

"How?" He asks holding his breath.

"Come with me. I'll show you our way. So, you can live with your human family." Alice answers reaching her hand out to him. He takes it swiftly and they're gone.

"He did it. He stopped himself from killing me." I whisper.

"No, Darlin'. You stopped him from killing you, by reminding him of who he is." Jasper rubs my back. I realize Jasper is right there beside me. I hug him tightly. "That reminds me. Will you Selene Brown go to prom with me?" I laugh softly.

"Now you ask?" I look up to be met with concerned golden eyes. "Of course I will. I've been waiting for you to ask me for a while now."

"Great, let's go shopping." Rose squeals.

   We get to their house at night. I called Kevin to tell him about us staying the night. He's okay with it considering he's on another trip. The next morning Rose helps me get ready.

Alice lets Bella borrow one of her dresses. I walk downstairs to be met with everyones gaze. Jasper takes my hand and put on a flower on my wrist. "You're beautiful." I blush at Jaspers words.

"She is. Not as beautiful as Alice, but still beautiful." I look up to see Alice and Darren dressed up. I go to hug him and I can tell he holds his breath.

"Your going?" I ask hopeful. He nods, I smile and back away to Jasper. "Sorry." He chuckles.

"It's fine, I have to face it sooner or later." Everyone is silent. "Well, shall we go?" Darren claps, not avoiding the truth.

"Not without pictures."Esme lines us up and we smiles.

   We get to prom and met Edward and Bella. They go outside and a slow dance played. "Jasper, when I change. I want you to do it." He stiffens.

"I can't lose control with you."

"You won't. Please Jasper." He thinks for a minute.

"We'll see." I nod, knowing this is all he can promise me for now. The music changes and we go outside. I see Darren dancing with Alice. I smile as I watch them and Edward and Bella dancing. Jasper wraps his arm around my waist. I giggle as he pulls me closer to him. I look up at him and leans down and kisses me sweetly and for long time.
