“Run.”

She ran through the forest as quickly as her legs could take her. As she ran she could feel the branches and other plants hit her. “Minakooooo” a chilling low voice sent after her. The very thought of what would happen if she slowed down sent chills down her spine. Suddenly the trees around her were being knocked over and something was piercing them. All she could hear was the sound of tree bark splitting and crashing. It was an awful sound and every time it happened she flinched a little. It was getting closer. The thing that ruined her life was getting closer.

As Minako did her best to get away from the creature walking towards her calmly making no effort to match the girl’s speed. A loud crash sounded as she felt a stabbing pain in her right ankle  and before Minako realized it she had fallen.

The girl let out a scream of agony. As she turned around tears started to form in her eyes, she feared what she would see. Her guess was right, a spear, “his” spear. She attempted to get up, despite knowing that her struggle would be for not. She felt pressure on her back, her face pushed into the soggy ground, the same thing that had hunted her, stabbed her, and was now standing on her back kicked at her ankle as the blood proceeded to gush out.  “Aww, you’ve gotten so slow Minako. It’s a shame, I was hoping you'd be harder to catch considering how fast you used to be. Though I suppose you did have a disadvantage.” a taunting voice sneered at the girl.

“Ares..” Minako attempted to get out, even though he was practically shoving her face into the dirt. “Yesssss?” Ares asked, making sure to hold out the “s'' sound for as long as possible. “Awwwwww Aresssss I can't believe you got to Minako before meeee. It's so not fair.” a voice whined as an average height girl skipped into the area. They were like children, but deadlier.

“Whatever, shut it Eris. You just suck.” Ares shot at the other girl, his voice dead serious. Eris stuck her tongue out at him then spoke “Anywayyyy Minako you appeared to have injured yourself. Shall I help you? Ooh ooh! I know! I can help you and once you feel better we can try again! You know, make it fair! Right, Ares?” Eris exclaimed.

“Leave me alone…please..” Minako muttered as her eyes started to water. “Is this about what happened to them? I already apologized, you know. They weren't supposed to get hurt after all.” Ares sighed, his voice growing quieter as he remembered what happened. “Yeah! Yeah! It was really a shaaaaame.” Despite the words she spoke, Eris smiled widely, frighteningly wide.

Ares stepped off of Minako's back and helped her up. “Now then, we should probably get out of here before something finds us,” Ares said, Minako thought she could hear the slightest hint of fear in his voice. “Y-yeah..” Eris stuttered, the fear in her nasally voice more present.

Out of nowhere, came a roar that shook the ground and the trees around them. “What was that?!” Minako asked, doing her best to ignore the pain in her right leg.

“Stupid stupid girl..” Ares jeered, shaking his head. “Um, Ares..” Eris spoke shakily. “Shush you. We should be fine, we're pretty far away after all.” Ares dismissed the girl. “Ares!” Eris said again her voice much louder this time. “What do you wa-”

He was cut off by the large creature now facing them. Minako realized that this would be her only chance to get away and darted as fast as she could, not bothering to look at the owner of the loud sound from earlier

“Minako!” Eris yelled after her but she still didn't turn back. The pain she felt in her ankle was unbearable but she knew she had to keep going, no matter what.

(Author's note: So uhh I'm new to this, if anyone ends up seeing this then feel free to offer tips. This chapter was a bit of a trial run, wasn't sure how much to write so the parts might get longer as I go on! I'll probably add pictures of the characters in a chapter or two!)
