Sam's POV
"Was it just me or was that a little sketchy?" Dean asks as we leave Mr. Smith's house and head back to the Impala. He gets in the front seat as I walk around the front and get in the passenger side.
"Definitely sketchy." I say as I shut the door.
"They're definitely hiding something, I don't know what yet, but I'm going to find out." He says.
I think about the girl we met. Alethea. She was one of the most stunning girl's I'd ever met, with long black hair, tan skin, and bright hazel eyes. She was tall, lean, and curvy. But she was very defensive of her swollen cheek that was turning red, black, and blue. It was obviously a recently acquired bruise, she had probably gotten it minutes before. I could only imagine how.
My name is Sam Winchester, I'm 29 years old. My brother Dean and I hunt supernatural creatures. Ghosts, Wendigos, Werewolves, Vampires, Demons, Tulpas, everything. We were raised as Hunters, it's the "family business". When I was six months old, a demon broke into my house and infected me with demon blood. When my mom tried to help me... The Yellow Eyed Demon, or Azazel, killed her and set the house on fire, burning everything to the ground. After that, my dad was obsessed with revenge. dragging us All over the country, learning about all things supernatural, trying to find and kill the demon that did this to us. Hunting. I've never wanted to be a part of it, but you can't escape. Once you're in, you're in for good, and there's no getting out.
Believe me, I've tried. When I was 18, I left. I got a full ride to Stanford despite the fact that we switched schools about once a month. I met Jessica Moore, and we fell in love. But then, of course, the life caught up to me. Dean came to our house when I was 22, told me Dad was missing, and he needed my help. I told him I'd come, but only if I could be back by Monday. We solved a saw down in Jericho, CA. But when I got home, I saw the worst thing. Jessica, dead, stuck to the ceiling. The same way as my mother. And then everything burned down.
It's been eight years, but sometimes it still hurts. Since then I've stopped the apocalypse, gone to Hell, even walked around soulless for a while. I've done some regrettable things, but I've been able to forgive myself.
Dean and I were in Ogden in the suspects of a vengeful spirit haunting. We had just helped out some kids. Krissy, Aiden, and Josephine. Their parents had all been killed by vampires, and they were taken in by our friend Victor. We had met Krissy a while back, and we're sad to learn that her dad had died, and that she had picked up hunting again. At first, Victor's set-up seemed great. He gave the kids a healthy environment to live normal lives and still hunt, since all of them were dead-set on revenge.
But the more Dean investigated, the more sketchy stuff he had picked up on. Victor had a vampire friend. He had killed their parents and then created newborn vampires for them to exact their revenge on. He was trying to create the perfect generation of hunters. It was sick.
Now we we're just taking care of some minor issue here while trying to figure out the deal with the first trial. Our friend, well, he was more like family, Kevin Tran, the Advanced Placement kid we picked up about a year ago, was also a prophet. He was trying to decipher the Demon Tablet, to learn all the secrets about demons God had to offer.
One thing he discovered was how to close the Gates of Hell. It was shut every evil son of a bitch in there forever. There were three trials that needed to be completed. The first was to slay a Hellhound and bathe in its blood. Gory. I wanted to do it, but Dean, stubborn as always, has insisted that he does it. Dean is always sacrificing himself for me, and I just want to be able to save him for once.
"So, the wife?" Dean asks, snapping me out of my reverie.
"Yeah, she should be available by now." I say.
