The morning sun shone upon the Gracefield House, dew encased the grass and the fresh smell of it is what got Shinoa to appreciate hours like this

seeing that she couldn't sleep, she decided to stay in the library reading.
All the studying made her lose track of time, seeing as the sun was already out

'Did I stay up that long? ' she thought.

she cleared out the desk and returned the books to their places, rubbing the sleepiness away from her eyes

she had previously used her scarf as a make-shift blanket to get comfortable so she took it and wrapped the cloth around her shoulders, walking to the kitchen to see if mama was already awake

upon entering the room, there she saw Isabella about to cook breakfast.

"Goodmorning dear, you're up early." The woman said, not expecting to meet a very tired looking child

"Goodmorning. And no I just didn't sleep" Shinoa shrugged.

Upon hearing this, Isabella was immediately concerned for the child.

"Why? You shouldn't be doing that at your age, look at how tired you are" Isabella scolded

Yawning once more, Shinoa brushed it off

"I'll be fine Mom"

"Well since you're doing just fine come and help me with making breakfast" The woman sighed

"Okay then" Shinoa smiled

Isabella placed a stool for her to reach the stove.

"Be careful not to burn yourself, okay?" Isabella said, concerned.

and Shinoa hummed in response.

while the said girl took care of cooking simple things such as pancakes, eggs, and slicing bread, Isabella went ahead and filled the jugs of milk and set the table

It is more efficient with a helper, isn't it?

As much as Isabella wanted Shinoa to assist her like Ray, there was something that made her ignore the thought.
maybe it was because she didn't want her to live the rest of her (short) life with that burden

"The food is done cooking, can you help me plate these?" Shinoa looked back for Isabella

only to be met with the familiar eyes of Ray. Shinoa was startled by the ravnette but was quick to cover it with a cough.

"Oh, sorry about that, also- you can cook?" Ray snorted

"I- uh. I guess?" She responded awkwardly as if doubting what she just made a few moments ago

"What do you mean 'you guess'? I was just kidding" He grinned, walking up to where the plates were and started arranging the food accordingly

"So these are the serving sizes for each plate, let's do it together"
he casually suggested

"Alright."
