Kaya's POV

"Are we there yet?" Luis asked as I was listening to "Sweet Dreams" by Beyoncé on my iPhone as I was reading 'Twilight'.

"Almost there." Mom spoke as she kept her eyes on the road.

"There is so much roadkill." Luis said as he kept on counting the roadkill that we see on the road.

"Maybe there are animals like bears and wolves around here." I spoke.

"It's a beach town, baby girl. There's no woods around here." Mom smiled at me.

"You don't know that." I huffed.

I never want to move out to Provincetown. I wanna stay in New York where I dream of being the greatest dancer and singer of all time. Then, one of mom's friends, Steph, tells her that this town would be an inspiration for her art career. Great. I never heard of this town so that alone is weird.

An hour later, we arrived at our new home in this.... ghost town. This town is so fucking creepy. But before we could get settled in, a figure was watching us. We decided to ignore it and suddenly, a woman with pink hair bleeding from her face ran up to us and to be honest, she looked like a crackhead.

"What are you three doing here?! You'll all die in this damn town! Get the hell out while you still can!" She shrieked at us.

"I-I don't understand. Ma'am, are you alright?" Mom asked.

Another woman came up, pulling her off away from us. Thank God for the help.

"Get out of here, TB Karen! They're new here, so you can't scare them like that!" She said to the bleeding woman.

"You'll regret that you didn't leave sooner..." Karen said before walking away.

The other woman sighed in relief once she was gone and said to us, "Sorry about that. She's what we would consider to be the town's local crazy, so try not to think about her warnings. I'm Martha and I'm the house manager for the house next door."

"I'm Theresa and this is my daughter, Kaya and my son, Luis. We just moved here." Mom said, shaking her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Martha."

"What brings you to Provincetown?"

"We're looking for an inspiration. I'm an artist as Kaya is trying to become a singer and dancer." Mom said, making me groan.

"Well, there's this local piano bar and restaurant called the Muse that has live entertainment, Kaya can try and audition there. I wish you all the best of luck." Martha smiled before leaving.

We all let out a sigh before moving into our new home and I might try it out that would get my dream career started.

LATER THAT NIGHT

After auditioning at the Muse, I decided to go for a walk on the beach. I was impatiently waiting to hear back from them. Lots of thoughts are going through my head as I wait. Was I not good enough? What do I do then? I felt like I was wasting my time. Then, I begin humming 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' to calm my nerves and soon, I end up singing out loud.

I was all by myself, so I begin singing and dancing in the sand. I was about to reach the climax when someone clear their throat from behind me.

There stood a handsome man with dark hair and said, "I don't mean to interrupt but you sing beautifully."

"Oh, thank you. I'm Kaya and I just moved here with my mother and brother." I spoke as I hold my hand out for him.

He shook my hand, giving me a smile.

"I'm Harry and I also happen to be new here along with my wife and daughter. I'm here to work on this pilot I've been writing up, you know, just to get some inspiration. What about you?" He spoke.

"My mom is also looking for inspiration as well. I'm taking a break from college right now as I'm trying to kick off my dream career." I spoke.

"You're in college?"

"Not right now. I'm on break."

"I was just out on a walk to think when I saw these bodies and heard you singing, which totally freaked me out since I thought you were some bloodthirsty sirens. No offense."

"None taken. I'm flattered." I giggled until my phone ring.

I excused myself for a moment and got on, listening in on what the owner of the bar had to say. My eyes widened I surprise when I heard that now I got the job as a singer, and I would start tomorrow night as I need to settle in tonight. I thanked the owner and hung up.

"Congrats on the new job?" Harry asked. "I didn't mean to listen in just so you know."

"It's fine and thank you. Now, if you excuse me, I need to tell my mom the good news. I'll see you around, Harry."

I ran off not before I heard Harry yelling, "It was nice meeting you, Kaya!"

I looked back at him, waving before making my way home.

"Mom!" I yelled as I stormed through the front door.

"What is it, Kaya?" Mom asked.

"I got the job at the Muse! I start tomorrow!" I yelled.

"Oh, that's my baby!" Mom squealed as she hugs me tightly.

I heard Luis playing the guitar which he is really good and dreams of being a guitar player.

"I just finish cooking so let's go celebrate." Mom said.
