Acquaintance

"YAH! Since when did you'd top liking luka?!"

Haru exclaimed in utter shock, Rei on the other hand burst out in laughter at the sight of Haru's face painted in horror.

It was early in the morning and the three girls were walking slowly around town to pass time before school.

"well is it really a surprise?? All she's gone on about for the last week is mr oh so perfect dream boy, it was pretty obvious she was way over luka" she said shrugging

"Yeah well I'm not exactly a human romance monitor like a certain someone now am I?"

"I am not!! I just have common sense"

"Hahaha common sense? You? Do you even know what that is"

"How rude!! Helennnnn~"

Rei turns to Helen and clings to the sleeve of her school blazer "Haru's bullying meeee~" she whined

"Aren't you supposed to be the mother figure here not me" Helen laughed

"Exactly!! Plus you asked for it, how was-"

just as she was speaking Haru stopped and stood with a look of shock

"OHH NOOOOO!!! I forgottt" I was supposed to go get a bunch of stuff for mum from the shop"

"Uh oh you should go now then quick quick!!"
Rei ushered her on and Helen joined

"We have an hour till school starts so be back quick I expect to see you there I will not be lonely in class!!"

"Aye aye captain" Haru shouted and saluted before running off.

"Eyyy how could she not notice" rei tutted, Helen just laughed.

Just then Rei's phone started to ring.

It was a strange ringtone, not her normal one. This caused Helen to stop her giggles and watch rei in curiosity as she answered the phone

"hello?"

"Oh hey"

A smile crosses her face accompanied by a light flush of pink that clouded her cheeks,

"Oh no it's fine don't worry I'm not busy anyway, it's nice to hear your voice once in a while, check you're alive"

"You ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine"
"Eyyy it's seriously fine, no you don't need to hang up we can talk for a bit"

"Hm? Now?"

Rei glances over at Helen who was now staring dumbfounded.

She gives a slight grin,

"I'm free see you in 5, bye~"

Rei jogs over to Helen
"Helloooo Helen" she waved in her face "please come back to reality"

"O.K. Rei I think you have some explaining to do and a lot of it!!! who was mr mystery over the phone!! Like whaaaaat! your face oh my god whoo?! How long have you been dating without us knowing?!"

"Whoahhh there hold your horses I'm not dating anyone that was just a friend! Literally I've known him forever i would never date him sorry to disappoint mum"

"Uh huh sure cause you know all your friends just casually turn you into a tomato when they call you, heck you barely ever answer the phone in the first place"

"Since when am I a tomato my face is always this colour. Plus I do answer the phone...sometimes. I thought it might be important since he doesn't call often."

Helen rolled her eyes

"Look at me in the eyes and tell me that again"

"Nope, Anyway I've got to go meet him I'll be back soon, love ya bye"

"Ahh how rude at least tell me his name before you abandon me here" but by that time Rei had already made her quick escape.

Helen Walked alone down the pathway, thinking about whatever floated into her head. Kicking the sunset leaves under her feet.

Until she felt a thump against her head. She jolted her face up to see the silhouetted head of her good friend Eric, a wide smile began to appear on her face.

Her expression darkened however as the memory is of his recent outburst flooded into her head.

"Hey" he greeted her in a small voice barely over a whisper. Helen could hear the guilt in his voice.

"Hi" she replied and began to try walk past Eric, her eyes fixed on the ground.

She didn't get far though as Eric was quick on his feet and turned to grab her arm.

Helen stayed facing the ground back facing Eric.

"Helen...why are you ignoring me we haven't talked in days, is this about the other day?"

"What was with you" she snapped "we didn't do anything but you were so angry with us I don't had understand you" her voice trembled

"I'm sorry Hel I really am I didn't mean it please...I'm so sorry" he pleaded with her.

Helen turned to see the beautiful yet pained face of her best friend, her eyes softened and she stepped forward to hug him "ok forgiven. I missed talking to you"

Just then the bell rang and so the two made their way into school.

Minutes later Helen joined up with Haru who was returning from her quick shopping trip and entering the classroom.

"Oh my god Helen I just met the cutest guy ever in town oh my goshhh he's an actual angel!! You should have seen"

Helen rolled her eyes at Haru as she sat down beside a seemingly flushed Rei who had a smile glued across her face, in her was in her own world completely unaware of her friend gushing over her new supposed acquaintance.

"He had like a cool and cold but cute air about him! And his smile! And his eyesss!"

"Oh my god you two"

she flopped her face into her and sighed

"I'm sensing I'm not gonna get much of a break from your life stories, this'll be fun I want all details"

Suddenly their monster- I mean teacher walked into the room and the class was silenced.

"Ok so we have a new student" she announced earning an collective gasp from the class, ignoring this she signalled for a boy to enter the room.

This boy had slightly curled, black hair that led down to a small rounded face with sapphire eyes that lit up in the bright lights of the classroom, hands in pockets he stood at the front of the classroom, his mouth curled into an adorable smile.

"Hi! I'm Alex nice to meet everyone"

Haru's pen dropped from her hand making a small clatter. A look of shock adorned her face. She opened her mouth and gasped in a loud whisper "OH MY GOD!"
