Orange Islands

Chapter One

Waking up in a bundle of wings is the best way to wake up. I unwrap myself and set everyone food out before entering the house and finding Dad up and cooking. "I see you are up already."

"I just woke up really."

"So, after breakfast what is the plan?"

"I am going to head over to Professor Oak's lab and see what he needed after I have no idea." After eating breakfast I gather Maren, Prism, and Kaida and head over to the lab. Upon entering the lab I find Professor Oak in his lab doing research. "Xavier excellent your here. I need your help with something."

"Of course, what is it?"

"I need you to head over to Valencia Island and pick up a special Pokeball from Professor Ivy."

"Valencia Island. I don't think I have ever heard of that Island."

"It lies in the Orange Archipelago. I will give you a map of the archipelago so you can find your way."

"When do you want me to leave?"

"As soon as you can."

"Alright I need to pack up a few things and I will head over as soon as I can."

"Before you leave Mr. Goodshow sent me a package to give to you. "Professor Oak hands me a map and marks which one is Valencia Island and the package. I head back home and explain the plan to Dad and see which Pokemon want to head over to the Orange Islands with me. Nexus, Cove, and Dante come over to me and I return everyone to their Pokeballs. Dad comes out of the house with a large box in Black wrapper and white bow.

"This was dropped off after you left seems like someone really likes you with how this is wrapped."

"Dad please no." I take the box and unwrap it to find a black wide brimmed hat with a white bow. A letter was in the bottom of the box. A letter from Lance, saying he had a wonderful night and would love to meet up again soon. Putting the hat on Nexus came out of his Pokeball and went into the shadow of the hat and stayed there. "Seems like Nexus is not coming out." "Nope. Now who is it from?" Dad asks.

"I will tell you later." Opening the other package I find a necklace. The pendent is in two parts the bigger part is blue and green with a symbol in the middle and  the indigo symbol hanging under the bottom, a letter was at the bottom of the package. The letter explains that the necklace is a symbol to show that I am the Champion of Kanto. There are not many that know what the symbol means, but the ones that do will help me in the long run.

I call out Kaida and hop on with Maren and Prism, then fly off to Valencia Island. When we near Valencia I land near the Pokemon Center and ask for directions to Professor Ivy's lab. On the way to Ivy's lab I hear a commotion near the water. A Gyarados comes out of the water with a lady riding on top of its head. The lady jumps off and introduces herself as Professor Ivy. "I am Xavier. I was sent by Professor Oak to get a special Pokeball."

"Oh, well come along it is at the lab." Following Ivy to her lab she introduces me to three girls that are her lab assistants. Heading over to the lab part I find a gold topped Pokeball with two letters engraved on it. "This is the Pokeball that I asked Professor Oak to look at I call it the GS ball, because of the the letter G and S engraved in the front of it. We have tried everything to get it open, but nothing works, and trying to transmit it does not work either." Ivy took the GS ball and showed how transmitting will not work.

Since night fall is close I stay with Professor Ivy and help clean up the kitchen. The next day I head off back to Pallet Town, Kanto with the GS ball. After flying for a few hours a storm started up and we landed on the nearest island. We take shelter in a nearby cave and light a fire for Prism and Kaida to dry off. Once the storm settled down I make my way through the forest and to the town on the map. I enter the town and walk along the sea side and come across a group of boys harming a Lapras.

"Just what do you think you are doing?"

"None of your business. Why don't a pretty thing like you leave the fighting to us."

"I will leave if you all leave that Lapras alone."

"I don't think so, Beedrill come on out." They send out Beedrill, Fearow, and Hitmonchan and ordered them to attack. "Maren hydro pump, and Prism slash." After firing off the attacks the guys returned their Pokemon and flee from the scene. Walking up to Lapras it tries to move away when I get close. I send Maren with a note to the Pokemon Center and request for immediate care for Lapras. After getting Lapras in Nurse Joy's care, I find a poster about the Orange League. I ask Nurse Joy about the league. "Oh. You go to four different islands and earn four different badges then after you earn the badges you get to challenge the Orange League Champion." I call Professor Oak and ask him for a favor. "Hello Xavier, where are you calling from?"

"Tengo Island. I got caught up in a storm and landed. Nurse Joy just explained to me the Orange League and I was wondering if I could enter?"

"As much as I want to examine that Pokeball, this is a good chance to gain more experience. As soon as you finish would you please head over back to Pallet?"

"Of course, thank you Professor." Ending the call Nurse Joy says that Lapras is well now, but fears anyone that comes near it. I step outside and try to approach Lapras, but it just dives underwater. Taking of my shoes and socks I dip my feet in the water and take another approach. I bring out my violin and play a soft melody. Lapras dips its head out of the water and watches me closely. Maren dips into the water and talks with Lapras, soon Lapras is laying its head in my lap, allowing me to touch it. I put aside my violin and slowly pet Lapras head. "You are just an infant. I wonder how you got separated from your pod. But no matter I will help you get back to your pod, so for now what do you say to coming along with me through the Orange Islands?"

Lapras nodes and I capture Lapras. With the day still so young I head off on Lapras giving Kaida a rest. While on the sea, I learned that Lapras is a female and I give her the name Nessie.

After two days on the sea I land on Mikan Island and I go looking for the Mikan gym. Nurse Joy gave me directions and I entered the building near the sea. When I entered the gym and meet the Gym Leader Cissy. "I am Cissy one of the Orange Crew, and you are?"

"I am Xavier from Pallet Town. I came to challenge the Mikan Gym."

"Of course, follow me." She lead me to a battlefield. "This will be different from how you are use too in Kanto. Here in the Orange Islands we do more than battle. Now if you please." The boy to Cissy right pressed a few buttons and the battlefield changed into a water battlefield. "The first match will be a water gun match. The objective of the match is to knock over the most cans with water gun."

"Alright, Maren are you up for it." Maren jumped into the water and when they said go Maren and Seadra fired off water guns and knocked down all the cans. Next the wall came down to my left and this time it will be moving objects. They fire off with a single disk then three, then fired off a single one again and we see which one of us hits it first. I called for Maren to fire and both Maren and Seadra fired at the same time and destroyed it at the same time. "Seems like it ended in a draw. One more match to decide the victor. A wave ride match." We head off to the beach and she explains that the Pokemon have to swim around the flag and back wins. Calling out Nessie, while Cissy calls out Blastoise and climbs on top of its shell. She then explained that the trainer has to ride the Pokemon over and back.

Climbing on Nessie, we speed off toward the flag when the gun goes off. My balance wobbles a little but I hang on and ask Nessie to try to for the middle. Nessie and Blastoise bump into each other not letting the other get ahead. Blastoise bumps harder into Nessie knocking me off, but Nessie catches me. "Thanks Nessie. Now lets catch up to Blastoise." We pass the flag and large wave of water forms ready to crash down on us. Nessie turns her head and fires off an ice beam and freezes half of the wave, but Cissy half crashes down on her and sends her flying. Blastoise jumps up and catches her and catches up with me. "Nessie ice beam and make a bridge to the land and jump on it." Nessie made a bridge of ice and jumps on sliding pass Cissy and allows me to win the match.

"That was a great race, pretty smart of you to use that ice slide. Here the Coral Eye Badge to show your victory on Mikan Island."

"Thank you Cissy, and thanks for the great match this was something different from what I am used too." Leaving Cissy I head over to the Pokemon Center and rest up before I head over to Navel Island for my second Orange Island Badge.
