"LET ME IN! LET ME IN!!" Charlie yelled as she started hitting the cold slippery glass with her left hand "IT'S RAINING! Please..!" It was no use.
Charlie was kicked out of the restaurant and on to the dark alley.. Again...
Those bullies always picked on her for being such a "daddy's girl". They'd bully her for hours saying that she's spoiled just because her father owns half of the restaurant and because he made an animatronic just for her. Charlie eventually gave up, sat down beside the smelly garbage bags and began crying."Out of all days I could've forgotten my umbrella" William snarled. Already tired of the weather scaring the hell out of him whenever he hears thunder clap from above the clouds. He parked his car beside the pizzaria when he heard soft sobs coming from the back of it. William. Already assuming who it is, he peaked around the corner to see little Charlotte Emily sobbing, her knees to her chest and her arms hugging them tightly. "Charlotte..?" William said softly, making his way over. "Mr. Afton..?" Charlie choked out, "M-mr. Afton.. the.. th-the bullies..! They threw m-me out here!!" Charlie began sobbing louder. "I know, I know.." William said as he kneeled down to her level.
Charlie had been Williams daughter's best friend, Elizabeth. She had always been the one protecting Charlotte from those bullies. Unfortunately she went missing a couple of months ago.
To William, Charlie was nothing but another obstacle for him. She always seemed to be bothering Henry whenever William needed him. Charlotte, being Henry's daughter, always came first before work. Because Henry just couldn't say no to precious little Charlie, especially when his wife had left him because of the disappearance of his other child, Sammy. He didn't want to be as neglectful and foolish as he was before.
Maybe Charlie WAS a little brat those bullies told her she'd be.
"Mr. Afton..?" William immediately shook out of his thoughts, and turned to face Charlie. "Can you open the door p-please..?" Charlie stuttered. Another reason why William slightly resents Charlie. She's scared of him, and he didn't understand why. She always seems to stutter and tremble in front of him, Hell when it comes to strangers she smiles with glee. It's always William who manages to make her face turn grim and nervous.
"Ah, of course.." William walked towards the backdoor and just when he was about to grab his spare key from his pocket, Charlie let out a whimper. William turned his head and saw Charlie fidgeting with her fingers, looking at William eagerly like she was asking permission to say something. A thing she inherited from Henry. He always squirms and bounces on his heels when he wants something. As if he lost he's ability to say his opinion.
William sighs, "What is it Charlotte?" William asked, almost failing to hold his irritated tone. Charlie jumped a little, "Uhmm... " Charlie stopped fidgeting with her fingers "H-he... He-He trusts you.. yknow... Daddy I mean." Charlie said hesitantly, looking down. William was a little surprised by this. Was she jealous..? Why would SHE be jealous, If anything she's the one who's taking all of Henry's time not William.
And yet she had the audacity to tell William himself this.
The man she couldn't even have eye contact with for second, the man who never even tried to acknowledge her existence, the man... Who kidnapped her twin brother right before her eyes.
William shifted his whole body towards her now, "What about Henry?.." William asked. The rain poured harder on the two individuals, the plastic bags behind them making an annoying buzzing sound whenever multiple raindrops fall on it. They were silent for a moment, finally making eye contact with eachother for the first time ever since Sammy's disappearance.
"I know you took him" Charlie blurted out, gripping her small hands into fists. William didn't look fazed by her comment but nervousness was rising in his chest "Who?" William asked in an intimidating tone, he was trying to scare her. She did flinch a little but was still determined, "...Sammy.. You took my brother..!" Charlie half yelled "You took Sammy away from me!" Charlie was crying now, William was taken aback by her outburst of rage.
She never really showed she WAS upset about his disappearance, she only ever cried about it when Henry told her she wouldn't be seeing him for a while, but other than that she didn't really do anything about it, as if he had just went on a vacation. William thought she didn't fully grasp on the situation, she was just a child after all. He was clearly proven wrong.
"...What does this have to do with Henr-" William was cut off by another scream "Everything! You still talk to him! You're a liar! A..A-a bad guy..." William was getting more and more irritated by Charlotte constant yelling and behaviour. It took a while before Charlie broke the silence again, still hiccuping between her words from sobbing too much. "I... Didn't tell daddy because.. He'll be sad a-again!" The little girl stuttered, "A-and he'll cry... And have b-boo boos again..!"
Charlie started tearing up again. 'Boo boos'? What the fuck was that? Isn't that a baby term for wounds, Why the hell would Henry-..
...ah...
How... Unfortunate.
William tensed up a bit before asking the next question "Were the wo- er... 'Boo Boos' on his... Wrist.. perhaps...?" William gestured to his wrist as he asked. Charlie stared at where he was pointing for a while before nodding slowly.
William felt something ache inside his chest. It was sharp and painful, like a bunch of needles stabbing you at once. What? Did he feel bad? I mean he should be expecting that.. reaction from the poor man, he did steal his kid and make his own wife leave him. So why does he finally feel remorseful after all this time?
Suddenly something else washes over him, it felt like something was boiling inside of his stomach. It was very rare for William to get angry, He's always calm and collected even when it comes to inescapable predicaments. He then got even more frustrated by these inane feelings and thoughts. And it seemed to fuel them even more.
"I want you to... Not talk to daddy anymore!"
William snapped. He grabbed the sharpest thing he could reach from the ground, which to his surprise was a broken wine shard. How convenient. He crouched down, grabbed Charlie by the shirt, pulled her towards him and turned her around so she could be facing away from him, and held the glass shard near her neck. Charlie was trembling but not from the cold, but from fear for her life.
"If you try to scream, I will pierce this right through your throat. Do you understand..?" The little girl winced at the threatening tone of his voice, but agreed quickly not wanting to test his patience any further.
William had no idea what got over him, he felt like something was about to burst out of his chest. It wasn't like him at all, it all felt so agonizing. As if everything he'd been holding in, everything that happened to him, was all flooding back at once in a ball of anger, hatred, fear and sorrow. Elizabeth's disappearance, Evan's death, Michael's first attempt, His Wife's death. It's felt like a sick theatre repeating the same thing over and over and over again.
His thoughts got cut off when he heard the backdoor of the restaurant open.
William turned pale. He swiftly wrapped his other arm around Charlie's neck, turned around, and used the hand where his weapon was and shot it towards the looming figure.
"What... Are you doing William?..."
