Michelle Westwood finished school, as far as she could go to grade 10 . Michelle went to collage but the place she lived was far from anything and everything. The place name was Namibia Windehoek but she always wanted to study to be a Safari Guide which was a Nature guide.
She found a place to study and studied for many years around about 4 years. She studied to be a nature guide but she had all three levels of a nature guide plus she studied to be a game ranger as well. She never stopped studying.
After she had finished her studies as a nature guide , a recommendation come along in her favour . There was a game reserve near Namibia and she was offered a job there.
Of course she took the job but was little pay but she was in the place of her dreams. She was working there for a little while but one year that she was walking in the dusk of the Namibia sunset, it was very hot that early and we had not rained for some time on the reserve.
In the reserve there was many animals there. Day animals and also night animals. Michelle started to work at this game reserve in 2014 it was the most stunning place . The place name was Wildwater Ways Lodge Reserve. It was a massive game reserve there was alot of campsites and alot of guides of all different kinds.
It had 130 guest lodges and many wild animals but the was struggling of poachers around, I could tell you that she dislike them. They where taking on the African Elephants out but some of them left the untasked ones alone for some reason. They were after the ivoy of the Elephants and sometimes the meat . The both Rhinoceros species stillwas the most important one to us.
They were going quicker than the Elephants. Sometimes if the lions were around they to would get shot and taken for trade. Gosh it was drama on the reserve, wish Michelle would do something about it.
We also had a rehab center in the game reserve and I was working in the rehabilitation center but I did game drives too now and than.
This was all behind the scenes, the guests saw all the wildlife and not was really happening. The guest was allow in the rehabilitation center until a point. One sunday morning Michelle got the strange smell and heard gun shots going off. The African Elephants was going mad. Hencer one of the teenage elephants was took a fancy to me.
He came and told me with his trunk that something was wrong on the reserve. Was grumbling and making a massive noise.
I calmed him by giving him so milk to drink.
And silently he told me that there was poachers shooting. All of a sudden she heard a loud bang and someone screaming , she got scare and few minutes later she got an idea of how to save this animals and not let anything more happen to them from the poachers .
She phoned the police and they came out to the rescue and arrested the poachers.
The game rangers and police than arrived on the scene to take the die poachers away but two escaped. The Elephants bull had killed two of the other poachers. But unfortunately he was injured and later passed away from his injured leg. He lost to much blood we can't not save him from it. I decided that this was enough and so I went to the Bushman, I felt this was the right thing to do .
I went to the game reserve big boss and I asked him this : Mr Franciso Koekomoer ! As I knocked on his office door . He released a quick response: Yes Michelle come in ! I opened the door to his office. He greeted her as Michelle (Bushbaby).
She said that I may have a wonderful idea that may impress him.
He looked surprised okay I'm listening to you he said.
She went on telling him this : would be possible if we get the Bushman tribe to come and work as trackers here and they can tell us where the problems of the poachers getting into the reserve?
He was deep in thought but Michelle carried on saying . If we get them to help us we may have a solution and the animals will be safe . We can give them food and they can still do thier hunting and gathering . What do you say Mr Koekomoer?
Okay he said we can hire them but I can't afford to pay all of them now because the reserve is under alot of pressure . I see you also have a business mind, so I would like you to help me with a few things please . I'm glad that you came up with this idea.
I'm going to give you a few tasks that you must do please, they will be easy enough to handle . I will make a list for you and you can fetch it by me later. Michelle anything if you do all those tasks for me . I will be easy to hand you half the game reserve to you but remember, have work as a team and bring in more money.
Yes Mr Koekomoer I understand totally and of course nothing will pass until we both decided on it . He replied good . You can go now. She got into the land cruiser but she was thinking how is the game reserve under pressure and how is that Mr Koekomoer was just thinking about making more money than saving the reserve.
Off to the Bushman she went there and spoke to the chief. The chief gave her a great idea of getting students to help us with the poachers and they would help us too . He said in english : if you get people to help us we will teach them how to track and become trackers and hunt down the poachers so the animals can be protected.
She agreed to this and went to the Game Manger and told him what had happened at the Bushman chief hut. He fancied the idea and got some students from America, England and Germany. They were soon to arrive that Monday early morning on the reserve.
Mr Koekomoer put me in charge of them. There was about 7 students, 3 from America and 2 from Germany and 2 England . I didn't get there names straight away but we will come to that just now.
Anyway the students where brought by plane to the reserve. Gosh they were all excited the 3 America girls was thier first time in South Africa.
Has they all came the rehabilitation center were I was waiting for them they saw this huge elephant and one of them screamed . Hencer got a fright and come running to me. I calmed him down and nobody is going to hurt my boy .
She just a fright because you so big that all. He looked at me with his eyes and he started to play with the ground dust and he throw the dust into the air.
Eish hencer you always seem to do such things when you want to play around. But you just being an elephant .
I said to all the student welcome welcome to South Africa and I am Michelle and this is Hencer his an African elephant . I raised him because his mother was killed by poachers with a gun . As I showed them the tusks on Hencer, I said this is what the poachers are after.
You can come into the campsite where you all the staying for the next 8 months. I will explain to everything later on . You will all meet the campsite stuff just now . Please don't leave the rehabilitation center or the campsite but free to walk around this area of that I have just mentioned please. Aunt Nancyoko will take you all to the campsite . You may go with her now .
Miss Bella Anna stayed to ask me questions about the Elephants and Rhinoceros and the species that was in the rehabilitation center .
Miss Bella was from England she had been in South Africa before so she kinda of knew what was going on in South Africa. Bella was not interested in guys as such she was very straight forward and told Michelle that she liked her alot and she just smiled at her and said . Man you are stunning with a wink . Bella went blood red in her face, and started to giggle .
That night they were hanging out and ended up kissing and cuddling followed. The next morning Michelle wake up and took Bella coffee because she made amazing coffee. They were happy together and Bella was happy too but also sad because in a few months she had go back home . They decided to get married and Bella could stay in South Africa.
Mr Koekomoer later ended up having a heart 4 attack and later passed away and Michelle now was the new owner but that one thing she didn't share with Bella. She learnt alot from Michelle and they both ended up making the game reserve a massive success.
The poachers become less because they got rid of all the Rhinoceros but only had two or four on the reserve. They kept the white species and sold alot of the Elephants.
Michelle brought more male loins and female made a group up . Everything was going well.
They sold some of the land to farmers too make the game reserve bit smaller.
Michelle and Bella lived happily married on the game reserve with all the wildlife and thier pet white lion.
