STU MACHER had been in love with ANGELICA YVANOVA since kindergarten. It was practically common knowledge to anyone who knew the guy, or to anyone who had been inside the boys' washroom and seen the small heart which read 'STU LOVES ANGEL!' carved into the door of the 5th stall.
Angelica thought nothing of his crush. He was sweet and all but she never felt that he was as serious about his feelings as he swore to be; there seemed to be a new girl on his arm every couple of months. She refused to tarnish their friendship over whatever he thought he had felt, let alone allow him to degrade her to a month-long fling. Angelica Yvanova was not a fling.
But Stu wasn't one to quit so easily, she had known that from the start (or rather the day at the fair where he had spent two hours and all of their tickets trying to win a giant stuffed penguin for her).
Stu was intense. He felt his emotions a little too deeply, almost as if they were surging in his veins, electrifying him. They powered his brain, all the while rotting it out. He was losing himself to his own control.
Over time, his feelings for Angelica grew stronger, bubbling up and filling his senses; all the while she seemed almost unbothered. The consciousness was enough to drive anyone mad.
. . . Maybe a little too mad.
