Music blared through Raven's headphones. Her blue-ish, black hair strawn across the pillow, blocking out the sounds of her parents fighting. This fighting was constant, day after day, minute after minute, even second after second. Music was one of her escapes, she could go to it, and forget the world existed, even if it was for a second. Her headphones were a safe haven, where she could close her eyes, and just listen.
Though she would've loved to just listen to her music and wait for her parents to sleep, she needed to eat. She trudged out the door of her room, and just dodged a flying liquor bottle. "YOU NEVER CARED ABOUT HER!" Raven's mother screams at her father. " YOU DIDN'T EITHER! ALL YOU DID WAS SIT ON YOUR ASS,AND SMOKE!" her father retorted, rage clouding his eyes more than the tears that threatened to fall. "LIKE YOU TREAT HER ANY BETTER! YOU'VE DRANK AT LEAST 4 TYPES OF ALCOHOL,AND THAT WAS JUST FOR TODAY!!" tears already falling down her cheeks, her mothers fists clenched, her knuckles white, they looked like the bones of her hands would pop out.
They both caught their breath, Raven staying down, incase of another flying object. She had gotten her fair share of hits from chairs, liquor bottles, plates, clothing, silverware, you name it. "I want a divorce." "what?.." "I said I want a divorce." her mother deadpanned, she was done with her father being this way. "You can't just divorce me like that." "and why not? There's no law that I can't." Raven quickly crawled back in her room, knowing what might happen if she was caught.
The door made a loud, very noticeable creek. Her father looked over to Raven, with rage filled eyes, it looked like it was going to blind him. "You little bitch." he said speed walking towards Raven, "you were listening in on our conversation, huh?" "n-no! I just w-" "DON'T FUCKING LIE TO ME, RAVEN!" "I'm not! I was just h-" "NO FUCKING EXUSES!" he pulled Raven by her hair, leading her to the shelf by the kitchen. "I WAS JUST HUNGRY! PLEASE DON'T!" it was silent after Raven said that. So silent, you could hear a pin drop. He let go of Raven's hair, after a while. "you're lucky your head isn't gushing blood." her father said, after a bit of eerie, uncomfortable silence.

Raven sat in her room, crying silently. All of the pent up sadness, and trauma had gotten to Raven's head, which eventually, those feelings rested in her tear ducts, Her grey eyes clouded with tears. She found comfort in curling up in a ball, in the corner of her room. She didn't know what to feel. Sadness, trauma, hopelessness, maybe even just void of emotion. She was almost used to this type of treatment by now, it was like the same movie on repeat. She would come out of her room, see her parents fight, get caught trying to get back in her room, which would be mistaken for eavesdropping, either almost, or actually get hurt somehow, and end up crying in her room.
"Why?" She wondered, "Why, out of all people, would this happen to me?" her thoughts questioned her existence. She never knew why her parents took all their anger out on her, maybe they saw her as a punching bag that could feel things, maybe that's why. "Maybe I wasn't meant to be here." her thoughts considered, was she a mistake? Though she never heard her parents say anything like that during their constant fights, it was a possibility.
"You know, the window is always a way out." a voice spoke up from the darkness of the room. "Who's there?!" Raven said, trying not to reveal that she was crying, but to no avail. "No need to be afraid. I am Crow." The voice said, in a calm, reassuring tone. "You expect me to not be afraid of a random voice, that I presume goes by the name Crow? I barely know you, and you're in my house? What do you want?" "fair reasoning, little one. To answer your question, all I want is the best for you." The voice came out of the dark shadows, it appeared to be a black cat, with very pointy ears, almost cartoonishly so.
"You're a...cat?" Raven seemed confused, how can a cat Talk? "Yes, i, infact, am a cat. Please do not be frightened by my form,i am only a meer cat, with no claws." "no claws?" "I had an accident on the way here, and I accidentally lost my claws in the process, no worries, though. It doesn't hurt, and it isn't as bad as it seems." Crow explained. He had a very heavy english accent, it was like he was her superior, like he was richer, or fancier than her. Though he was just a meer cat, he was oddly...compelling, like he wanted to actually help her...
No! What was she thinking? It was a talking black cat. It has to be a figment of her imagination, yes, she was just going insane! That's it!
"Y..your not real! Your a hallucination!" Raven claimed, seeming as if she was trying to convince herself this wasn't real. "Well,if I wasn't real, then you wouldn't be able to pet me." The wise cat said, "go ahead,I enjoy being pet, anywho." He continued. Ravens hands patted the small creatures hand, and purred, obviously enjoying the moment. "You,my friend, have a lot to experience."
