~Emma's POV~

The way he asked me if I remembered him made me wish I did. He was perfect, and it seemed like he cared so much about me.

"I wish I did......" I said as I felt some tears start to roll down my face. I felt like my life just crumbled down into tiny pieces. How could I go on in life not even remembering half of my life as a child! The boy started crying too.

"No, no no please don't cry okay, I'm here for you!" I said as I pulled him in close and hugged him tightly.

"Hey... If you'd like, maybe you can help me refresh my memory, you know; tell me what I liked to do?" I said smiling at the boy, hoping to make him feel better. He picked his head up and looked at me right in the eyes. My god, his eyes were the prettiest things I've ever seen.

"Yeah, I'd like that." He sniffled. Two other boys barged in the hospital room.

"EM!" Said a muscular blonde one and held out is hand for a high five. I gave him a high five back but didn't say a word.

"What, cats got your tongue?" Said the other boy with perfect brown hair. The blonde boy that was crying with me looked up at them then pointed at the boy with brown hair.

"That's my brother Wesley. He likes to skate, surf, and make music. You two were pretty much like brother and sister." Then he pointed to the muscular blonde boy. "That's Drew. You guys always joke around and you're inseparable, he loves to play music and surf too. They're all pretty chill."

The boy named Wesley just looked at me confused. "And I'm Keaton." Said the blonde boy next to me. Keaton, what a nice name!

"Thank you so much, you know; for helping me out." I said to Keaton. I wish I could remember what life was like with these boys. They seemed pretty rad.

"Hey, let's go for a walk on the beach, I'll teach you what you liked and stuff!" Keaton smiled up at me.

"Sure, if I get the nurses permission" I said giggling, "I don't think she likes you guys"

"Believe me, we know." Said Drew, rolling his eyes.

The nurse walked in with her clipboard.

"We're going to have to ask all of you to leave, I need to talk to Emma privately." She said with a stern face. Oh dear. My friends and my mom walked out of the room, leaving just me and the nurse.

"Emma darling. You know you've lost pretty much all your memory. Tell me, do you remember anything?" She said in a sweet voice.

"I'm having a really hard time grasping this situation right now. It's all shocking, really. I just have this feeling in my gut that's telling me to go to the ocean..." I said to her as she raised her eyebrow and jotted down some notes.

"Okay, you're free to go. Just no activities for 3 days so your stitches can heal!" She packed up her clipboard and was off. I got up and changed into the clothes my mom left for me. She left these really awesome shorts that had an ombré effect, from dark blue at the top to white as you started to get to the end of the jean shorts. Then she left me a basic flowy white tanktop. At least she had a sense of style. I walked out of the room and saw Keaton sitting in the waiting room chairs.

"Alright, let's go!" I smiled. This should be fun.

~Emma's POV~

I took my flip flops off and left them in the jeep. The sand between my toes gave me this feeling inside. I knew I belonged at the beach.

"So... A few things about you," Keaton started "you can surf. You're actually pretty amazing at it." He said smiling down at the ground as we walked. "You're smart, cool and you can play the piano."

"Oh really?" I looked out at the ocean to see all these surfers out there, catching gnarly waves.

"That's crazy...." I said looking out into the water. I wanted to go out there now.

"Hey, can I go for a surf?" I asked him.

"Uh.... Sure I guess." He ran back to the jeep and got me his wetsuit and board as I watched the other surfers.

"Do you want me to go with you?"

"Nah I'm good." I replied. I started to put the strap over my wrist when Keaton stopped me.

"Uh Emma... The strap goes around your ankle..." He said laughing.

"Oh, right! Of course!" I felt my face turning a shade of pink. Smart Emma, smart. I started to run down to the water. I know I wasn't supposed to do any activity for 3 days, but the water was calling me.

I started paddling put to where the waves were breaking when some brown haired girl paddled near me.

"Nice to see you're back, finally realized that you're not as good as me?" She said. Who was this chick, and why was she so snobby.

"Sorry..." I said shyly as I turned away from her and started paddling to get the next wave.

"Oh no you don't, not again Emma." She said and started paddling for the wave too. What was she doing?! I paddled and caught the wave, and so did that girl. The problem was, I didn't know what to do, how to turn into the wave, let alone how to pop up. So I just sat there on my stomach, letting the wave take me when all of a sudden the girl turned her board, nearly hitting me in the face. I rolled off my surfboard and into the tumbling wave so she wouldn't hit me. The wave pushed me under, I was almost running out of air. Then finally I washed up on the shore. My hair was a mess and full of sand, and Keaton was running towards me.

"Are you okay?!" He asked holding my shoulders.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said feeling my head to make sure the stitches were there. Good, they were. So I'm okay. "What's that chicks deal?!" I was so pissed.

"Oh, that's Madison. You two are enemies. You beat her in a competition a while ago and she's never forgiven you for it. "

"Are you serious!? Man she needs to build a bridge and get over it! Better yet, build a bridge and fall off it!" I looked out into the water and saw her high fiving some locals. Ugh.

"Yeah, and the worst thing is... You're going to have to face her in two months for the Roxy search..." He said while looking down at the ground. The Roxy search?! A competition to see where you could get sponsored by them!? And I had to face.... There was no way.

"I give up! There's no way this could happen! I don't even know how to pop up on the board! Heck, I didn't even remember my own mother!" I started shouting as I threw my surfboard on the ground and sat on it. I cradled my head in my hands and started crying.

"Look, everything is going to be alright, you can do this, I'm here for you." He said as he sat down next to me and put his arm around me. Something about this moment felt so right. I'm not really sure what it was, but I have this feeling this Keaton boy and I were really good friends before everything happened. I looked up at him and wiped my tears from my eyes.

"Teach me." I said straight out to him, desperate for help. He looked up at me as this half smile crept across his face.

"Deal."
