"Yah, It really hurts you know? Seeing your love smile at someone with such love and bliss- to someone who doesn't deserve her. Tsk." Mino, your best friend since you were in diapers, whispered with a devastated face.
Just like you, Mino-yah... You're loving someone who doesn't deserve you at all...
You cleared your throat as you gave him a tight, warm hug to assure him that he's not alone...
That he's not the only one feeling that way.
It was one of those windy Sunday Afternoons wherein both of you would indulge in a romantic movie with ice creams or chocolates smudged on the edges of your lips. Unfortunately today, he, again, brought up his tragic love life again which, as usual, made you roll your eyes and listen to the same stuff since he and that Peach girl became Science partners.
Every word that comes out of his mouth, everything he says about his plans if he ever gets into a relationship with her- just breaks your heart into pieces.
Plans that you wish both of you would do together...
"Yaaah!! (Y/N)- ah!!!"
You turned around only to see him running towards you with a great, big grin plastered on his handsome face. He catched up with you and swung his arm at your shoulder- one of the normal friendship actions he always makes whenever he's with you.
Upon seeing him with his arm draped around your shoulder, anyone who didn't know you both would think that you two are in a relationship. But fate is just that cruel and it seems that it would not give you a chance to make their speculations come true.
"Why do you look so happy, Mino-yah?" you asked, curiousity and anxiety was filling up your heart.
"SHE SAID YES!!" he shouted in glee as he fist-bumped with the air, jumping and screaming happily, not minding the strange looks the people around them were giving him.
"What?" you asked, confusion was clearly written in your face. "Who said yes?"
He gave you a 'What-the-hell' look and pinched your cheeks, making it pinkish and painful.
"You silly idiot! Peach! She said yes! We're together now!"
Your feet numbed as your already broken heart was hulk-smashed by his words.
They're together now..
You quickly recovered and smiled sweetly at him.
" Congratulations Big Boy! Take care of your girl. Well, gotta go now... BYE!" you quickly muttered and ran away almost in tears, leaving your best friend confused and shocked.
You're just his best friend. Nothing more, nothing less.
Months passed and you felt as if you two were drifting away- with him always focusing on his girlfriend and you burying all your attention to your studies. You were very grateful to your books for being a great distraction...
However, deep inside, you knew that it was not enough... it was never enough.
You just needed him by your side.
Your feet ran at a cheetah's pace as you held your books tighly, not wanting to let anything fall. You were in a great hurry for it was your exam in Literature today and you were already 5 minutes late. With you being a candidate of being a Valedictorian, you could not afford any lates or missed exams.
"OW!" you said loudly as you rubbed your injured knee. You collided with someone and seeing that your books were all scattered, it was not a good situation.
