'i'm sorry.'

that kept flashing in my mind. it kept pulling me towards my phone which i had put back on the bedside table.

could it be vinnie ?

no, could just be a wrong number

i kept chewing on my lip. my thoughts went from a light breeze to a swirling, angry tornado.

ding.

the anticipation chewed at me like a piece of worn out gum, i couldn't take it anymore. torture seemed like it would have been much more releasing then this. so i grabbed my phone and looked at the notification.

'i forgot you don't have my number...it's vinnie btw'

i felt like a giddy primary school girl suddenly. my smile was uncontrollable and wide as i just stared at the screen like i found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. i felt so stupid but i couldn't even comprehend to care.

yet, no matter how much i tried, my brain couldn't figure out a proper way to answer back. my body felt tired. i have work tomorrow.

i couldn't just say 'hi', that would be weird.

i'll figure it out tomorrow. maybe.

so i placed my phone back onto the bedside table and allowed my body to melt back into the blankets and pillows. i sighed gently to myself. i stared at my ceiling fan until my eyes grew heavy enough to fall closed on their own.

buzz. . .

buzz. . .

buzz. . .

i felt my body begin to awaken. my eyes opening and welcoming the sun as it peaked through my blinds. i rose up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. while i yawned, i grabbed my phone and turned off my alarm. while i stretched, a large ball of fluff rose up to say good morning to me.

"hey serg." i greeted. my hands cupping his face and kissing his snout. he licked my face after that and promptly sat on my lap.

always at 5:00 am, we would spend twenty minutes just cuddling.

i wrapped my arms around sergeant and he rested his head on my shoulder. i closed my eyes as i happily smelt the dog shampoo that lingered on my german shepherd's fur.

i then hear a loud, fatherly yawn echo through the corridor. my dad just got up too.

considering i was dropped home by vinnie, my car was still at work.

i hope dad didn't mind driving me.

i let out a sigh and reluctantly pulled away from sergeant who let out a pained whine. i ruffled his head and got dressed.

i tucked my work shirt into my jeans and switched out my ear piercings for just some other studs. the shuffling of my dad's feet ruffled my ear drums. i suspected he was going to the bathroom and my hypothesis was right when the bathroom door closed.
