You and Dr Michael stood across from Soo Lin, the only thing separating you two was a small table. On the right side of the table was John, on the left, Sherlock.
"You saw the cipher" Soo Lin said quietly. "Then you know he is coming for me"
"You've been clever to avoid him so far" Sherlock admitted. Soo Lin took a shaky breath.
"I had to finish...to finish this work. It is only a matter of time. I know he will find me" Soo Lin said.
"Who is he? Have you met him before" Dr Michael said
"When I was a girl, living back in China, I recognised his signature" she confirm, noddin.
"The cipher?" John asked.
"Only he would do this, Zhi Zhu" Soo Lin muttered
"Zhi Zhu?" John asked as both you and Sherlock made eye contact with John.
"The Spider" you and Sherlock said in the same time. Soo Lin bent down to unlace her shoe and take it off. On the underside of her hell was a tattoo of the same black flower left with every victim.
"Do you know this mark?" Soo Lin asked softly.
"Yes, it's the mark of the Tong" Sherlock answered. Somewhere in the back of your mind you knew that title.
"The ancient crime syndicate in China?" you asked, Soo Lin nodded solemnly.
"Every foot soldier bears a mark. Everyone who hauls for them" she said.
"Hauls? You mean you were a smuggler?" John asked as his eyes widened. She lower her gaze and out her shoe back on.
"I was fifteen, my parents were dead. I had no livelihood, no way of surviving day to day m excoet to work for the bosses" she said as she said this you look down the ground and thought Abigail going to be like Soo Lin then you feel arms wrap around your left shoulder, you look up and see Dr Michael looking at you sympathetically then you look at Soo Lin Yao.
"who were they?" you queried. Soo Lin looked up at you with frightened eyes.
"They called the Black Lotus" she replied, speaking barely a whisper "By the time I was sixteen, I was taking thousands of pound worth of drugs across the border into Hong Kong. But I manage lesve that life behind me!" she smiles wistfully. "I came to London. They gave me a job here. Everything was good. A new life.." she trailed off.
"But he came looking for you" Sherlock said. Soo Lin struggle not to cry.
"Yes I-I had hoped after five years maybe they would have forgotten me, but they never really let you leave. A small community like ours, they never very far away" she reached up to her face to wipe a tear away and continue "He came to my flat. He asked me to help him tracked him down somthing that was stolen" John lean forward.
"Do you know what it was?" John asked as Soo Lin shrugged and replied shakily.
"I refused to help" she said then John glance at you, Dr Michael and Sherlock and then back to Soo Lin.
"So...you knew him well back in China?" John asked again.
"Oh yes" she looked over to you and Dr Michael. "he is my brother...Two orphans. We had no choice. We could work for the Black Lotus, or starve on the streets like beggars. My bother has become my puppet, in the power of the one they call Shan - the Black Lotus General. I turned my bother away he said I had betray him. Next day I came to work, and the cipher was waiting" she said then you feel your hands clenched into fist as you remember your adopted family did to you being a puppet to use you and Dr Michael rubb your left shoulder gently as he feel your body tense. After a few minutes you calm down and look down at the ground, John and Sherlock notice it.
