Silence is a blessing and a curse.

When someone is desperate for some peace and quiet, silence is absolutely golden. The presence of silence allows for one to hear their full thoughts for exactly what they are, completely uninterrupted.

For example, for Indy, the silence in the car ride to their destination was heavenly. She was so happy that she didn't have to deal with talking to the obnoxious man who had suddenly become her colleague.

On the other hand, silence can bring about immense uncomfortableness.

For example, Harry hated the silence. He was not a man who enjoyed silence. The hum of the car's engine as it whirred down the street being the only sound he heard was like nails on a chalkboard to Harry's ears.

The two were sitting in the back of the car while Álvaro drove them where they needed to go and it was absolutely silent between them. Harry hated that.

As Indy stared out of her window at the sights of Spain passing by, Harry glanced over at her and considered what to say. He figured that no matter what he said she would give him shit, but he simply could not stand the silence.

The lame question he settled on was, "so, what's your name?"

"Wouldn't you like to know," Indy instantly responded without even glancing over at him.

Harry rolled his eyes and tugged at the fabric of his pants on his thighs while racking his brain trying to figure out how to deal with someone as standoffish as Indy. He fidgeted for a moment before leaning back against his seat to create room for his hand to dig into his pocket, where he pulled out a small container that wasn't bigger than the size of his fingers. The top of the container was quickly slid open and Harry retrieved a toothpick from the container, which he didn't hesitate to stick between his teeth.

After the container was shoved back into his pocket, the toothpick now between his lips bobbed up and down as he said, "you know, having a partner in this kind of business isn't so bad."

Indy couldn't help but scoff. "Yes, it is, actually. I have to split the treasure money with you." As well as a couple of other reasons.

Raising an eyebrow, Harry let out a low whistle and began to play with the yellow sunglasses now in his lap instead of over his eyes while he replied with, "it's nice you feel entirely confident that we'll find it."

There was no hesitation before Indy declared, "I always do."

That made Harry nod his head, happy to at least hear that Indy was confident in her treasure hunting abilities. He was too, of course, so it was nice to have someone match his level of confidence.

"That's what I like to hear. We'll work well together, then."

The slight mockery in his tone made Indy squint her eyes at him in annoyance. He clearly knew she was unhappy with the whole situation and he was deciding to push her buttons more and more.

"I don't know about that," she mumbled in annoyance.

"Why?" Harry asked, crossing his arms and shifted the toothpick to the other side of his mouth without the use of his hands. "Why are you so repulsed by me?"

Releasing a sigh, Indy decided to not be an asshole for a second.

"I'm not necessarily repulsed by you. I'm just annoyed that I have a partner for this. I work best alone. Plus, I saw you holding up the line at security by flirting with the attendant. And you obviously ran into me while we were leaving security and you were an asshole about the whole thing. And you've been beyond smug this whole time," Indy paused as she glanced over at Harry to see him raising his eyebrow at her, a little surprised at the fact that she actually told him all those things. "But, mainly because I don't want a partner at all."
