✎ᝰ DEAR DEREK, I smile at Mom as I lay on the uncomfortable ER bed. She didn't return the smile. "Am I on something...-" I say, softly closing my eyes. Finally, I'm free. I assume I hear a flat line. I look around a notice I am in the first patient room I had ever been admitted to and when I look down at my hands, I see blood seeping from my abdomen. I smile once more.
