Sam and I finally got an apartment, we went out and bought all our furniture and paint then decorated. It was fun. Its awesome to have Sam as a roommate, she never fails to make me laugh. She's a prankster though, she loves to pull stupid pranks, nothing too serious, just funny. She thinks it annoys me, but it doesn't. I haven't told her that though other wise she'll take it up a notch and really try to piss me off. I won't give her that power, nope, no way, never going to happen.
After what should have been a day, but turned into 3 days of decorating, and many of paint fights, where the paint got everywhere, the apartment was finally finished and liveable. To say we were happy with it was an understatement. Our joy was indescribable. The apartment looked beautiful and we were proud of what we accomplished. Sam and I are 2 of the most irresponsible people on the planet but together we make the perfect team. It's kind of weird but it works.
"Hey Mary! I have an idea!" Sam yelled to me. She's currently getting dressed while I'm in the kitchen making breakfast.
"What's that?" I called back.
"How about we throw a housewarming party to celebrate us moving in and we can get to know our neighbours at the same time?" She asked excitedly. I stopped what I was doing and looked at her. She had her 'please say yes' face on and it's impossible to say no to. To be honest, her idea wasn't bad.
"Fine" I sighed giving into her. She was about to hug me but I stopped her "But, you have to behave, no getting out of control, I know you Sam" I warn. Sam is one of those people who has to have a drink, or 2 at a party. 2 years ago she was pretty much an alcoholic, she would drink all the time until she didn't know what the hell she was doing. It was all down to the fact that she was underage and was getting away with it. Her parents never found out. I on the other hand, did. I'm not one for drinking, I mean I'll have one or 2 but that's it. I talked some sense into her and helped her cut down, until I eventually got her down to like 3 drinks in one party. That way, she's only tipsy and she's still in control of what she's doing, plus I'm always right next to her to make sure nothing goes wrong. She is my best friend after all, I don't want anything to happen to her.
"Nothing will happen, I promise" she smiled at me. I just looked at her, my eyebrowws raised. She's not good at keeping her promises. "I'm more responsible when it comes to that now, I have to be" She told me. I know that she said it to convince me, but the tone of her voice told me otherwise.

We decided to have the party on Saturday, this gave us time to go out and get everything we needed, you know alcohol, snacks and well that's about it really. We made sure to invite everyone in the building, that way if they didn't come they couldn't complain about the noise because they knew it was happening. We made sure the apartment was clean and tidy before getting dressed. We had both gone out and bought something new to wear. I decided on a short, tight fit dress that stopped just above the knee and was low cut with thin straps and a zip down the back. I had black 6inch heels on, that I can barely walk in, but I'm short so I wear them. My long, dark brown hair hung down my back and was curled and I had a little bit of makeup on. Sam had got really short black shorts, with a tight white top with 1 strap. She's just as short as I am so, she had 6inch heels on too. Her shoulder length blond hair was straight, and she loves to wear makeup so she had a lot more on than I did.

The party started at 9 and was to last until the early hours of the morning, or until everyone wanted to go home. Most of our neighbours came. It's an apartment building for the students attending the same university as Sam and I, so there's no young children or older people living near us. It makes things a lot easier to be honest. Everything was going pretty well, I kept an eye on Sam the whole time, while still being able to talk to someone at the same time. It's a great talent that I have, It's an art really. I'm a fantastic multi-tasker. Sam has already made friends with most of the people here, she's currently talking to a boy, a cute boy I should add. It makes me happy that she's making friends. After the alcohol abuse, she was so afraid that she'd slip up again that she never went out. She never made any new friends.
"COOL PARTY HUH?!" She yelled over the music as she made her way towards me, pulling the boy with her. "THIS IS DAN!"
"Hey" I smile up at Dan. "It's ok" I reply, referring to the party and shrugged my shoulders.
"Why are you sitting here all alone?" She asked. I only then realised that I'd been sat on the sofa alone for the last 15 minutes. I've just been watching everyone around me. This party was intended for us to get to know our neighbours, and I'm not doing a good job of it. "Come dance M"
"I'm just not in the mood right now" I told her, pulling my hand away from her.
"Are you ok?" she asked. I nodded yes in response. I just have a headache that's all, but I don't want her to worry about me.
"Ok, well do you mind if just hang out with Dan?" she asked, giving me her puppy dog eyes. I don't want her to go somewhere I won't be able to see her. Also, I don't want him to force her to drink more than she wants me. She can be easily persuaded.
"Sure, just be careful and stay safe Sam" I warn her.
"Will do, thanks babe" she smiled and hugged me tightly. "Get involved in the party though girly" she tells me before running back to the other side of the room.

I'd been sat alone for a further 10 minutes before my eyes landed on a really cute guy, who was also looking at me and smiling. Did I mention he was cute? Like really cute. He had big, blue eyes, brown hair and the most gorgeous smile I've ever seen, well other than Lukes anyway. He walked towards me and asked me to dance. I couldn't resist and said yes. He was too cute to say no to.
"I'm Jordon" He smiles
"Mary" you reply.
I'd been with Jordon almost an hour, just laughing, dancing and having fun. I'd lost sight of Sam and I couldn't find her. Where the hell could she be? I can't help but begin to worry.
"Excuse me a minute" I smiled at Jordon, he nodded and I left rapidly. I searched the whole apartment for her, nothing. I went out into the halls and searched the building but I couldn't find her. I asked everyone I came across if they'd seen her, but they hadn't. She's nowhere to be seen. My worry is now full blown panic and I can't breathe. That's when I hear a girl scream.
"SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE! NOW!" She yelled. I raced to where she was stood, looking down at the ground. She was looking at Sam. She was unconscious on the ground.
"SAM!!" I screamed.
