When you forget-

"How can you say that!? After all these years, after everything we have been through!" She cried, tears running down her cheeks.
"I don't care about you" I lied, fighting to hide the heartbreak in my voice.
She shook her head, opened her mouth as if to say something, then turned and ran out the door, tears streaming down her face.
Jasper, my other friend, came in a second later. He pointed over his shoulder, "what happened?" He asked, referring to Jessica. "Did you make her cry again?"
"Again?"
"Yeah- you don't remember? The other day the same thing happened."
I stared at him for a moment, 'that witch! She made me forget!'. I put a hand on Jasper's shoulder, "I'm sorry, you should go and comfort her, you don't want to lose her as a friend, do you?".
He put his hand on mine, "she will be fine, what happened?"
I shook my head sadly, "you know how she is, if you don't comfort her she will never let you hear the end of it" I said, trying for a smile.
He nodded, "fine, but only because I don't want to listen to that". He smiled and left to go find Jessica.

"You had to do it"
"I know- but it still hurts"
"It's for the better-"
"I know, I just wish I didn't have to hurt them..."
"You only have a few minutes left, why did you not tell him goodbye?"
"I can't- I can't lose him"
"But he will lose you"
"I know.... trust me, I know"

The door opened and Jasper came running back in, he put his arms around me and embraced me in a hug. I pressed my face against his shoulder, feeling my tears start to fall.
"I am terribly sorry, mum called, something happened with my sister and she wants me home" he said quietly.
I pulled away, quickly wiping the tears from my cheeks, "you should go,".
He looked at me for a long, fleeting moment, "alright, I lo-"
"Don't- please, I know just...don't"
He kissed my cheek and then turned and ran out the door.

"What- why- huh?"
"He is my mate..."
"Ooooh no wonder....how are you going to deal with that?"
"I- I know what I want as my term."
"And what is that?"
"Jeez you scared me boss."
"I know that everyone is going to forget me, just please- please don't let him, I can't do that to him"
"You understand that with only him remembering you, he can't mention you to others, so it will be like you are someone he imagined"
"Yes- I...I can't lose him too"
"He is so sweet and perfect- why can't you be more like that Ze?"
"Are you sure that this is what you want, once you agree there is no changing your mind"
"Yes. I am sure"
"Then it will be done."
"I- he ignored me!"
"Ha, yeah he did"
"Why is your mate so much better than mine?"
"Well I have known mine for years, and he is just...amazing"
"Hey! Don't start crying! As your temporary best friend, I demand you not cry"
"My what?"
"Well as you just lost your best friends I will take their place...does your mate know?"
"No, I never told him, and he never asked."
"Were you planing on telling him?"
"No...I always knew this would happen, and I can't do that to him"
"It's not your fault you are like this"
"I know."
"Alright you two, it's time."

The door opened and Jessica peaked her head through, looking for her friend that had made her cry, "Lukas?" She called out, but the room was empty, he was gone.
