"I'M DROWNING IN A
POOL OF LIES."

"AND WORST OF ALL,
NONE OF THEM ARE MINE."

. . .

BEACON HILLS WAS NORMAL, well, to Elijah Montgomery that is. For the last nearly sixteen years, the small town was nothing but the definition of boring and totally without a doubt normal. Sure, maybe Eli's life wasn't that normal, but it was normal in the sense that it was plausible. It was fact-based. It wasn't a myth. Sure, being abandoned on his aunt's doorstep by his Bonnie and Clyde-esque parents wasn't that normal, but it wasn't unheard of. Sure, his sister ran away from home at sixteen, but so have a million other kids. Sure, his aunt and uncle fought more often than not and really needed to sign those divorce papers hidden behind their dresser, but last time he checked, they weren't the first couple with this problem. Heck, fifty percent of all marriages in the states end in divorce or separation. It was normal.

He was riding a failing mark in chemistry and his brain wasn't hard-wired for intense literary analysis, but he was pretty damn great at lacrosse and calculus. Oh, and he had a major crush on his teammate. Normal things for a normal teen.

But things start to become not so normal.

Things get weird.

Eli notices how Scott McCall becomes a lacrosse superstar overnight and he notices the exponential increase of animal attacks in the town. He notices when Stiles becomes tenfold more anxious, which was concerning, and he notices his aunt's panicked whispers over the phone. But, even though he notices, everyone assures him it's fine, it's normal, and that he's just worrying about nothing.

But it wasn't just nothing.

They were lying.

Every single person he cared most about was shoving deceit after deceit down his throat, waiting for the moment he failed to catch his final breath. Eli Montgomery was drowning in a sea of lies and his head was about to fucking explode from the pressure.

Because if there's one thing he's learnt,
BEACON HILLS WAS NOT NORMAL.
