It was a normal day at work. Ell was bored. She had no after work plans other than sitting on the couch in her pjs, watching T.V and eating ice cream. Usually she would be out on a Friday night ,and pretty much every other night of the week as well ,but she was new to town and didn't have anyone to go out with. Sure she could go alone but that got old after a while. She had been in LA for a month and so far she had only really made one new friend, Alice.

Just as she was heading home from work she got a call ... from Alice.
"Hey Alice!"
Ell said excitedly hoping she would have plans for them tonight.
"Hey, Ell listen my friends Bette and Tina, you know that couple I told you about, well they're throwing this weird party to find a donor. I know, crazy right?! So I was thinking this would be a great opportunity for you to meet my friends, oh and I'm supposed to ask you to invite any eligible, handsome, healthy guys you know."
"Alright sounds good although I don't think I know any guys that would be ideal donors just yet."
"No worries, I'll text you the address, meet me there for 7."
"Okay see you then!"

Ell went home and started getting ready. She threw her long dark hair into a bun and put on jeans and a t-shirt with a fishnet undershirt, going to clothes. She was nervous, hopefully she would make some more friends tonight or at the very least have a good time. After putting on a little bit of makeup and her sneakers she grabbed her purse and went on her way.

Ell pulled up outside of Bette and Tina's house around 7:00, she didn't want to go inside alone so she waited outside until Alice showed up fashionably late as usual around 7:15. After giving Alice minor shit for being late the two chatted a little bit before heading inside to the party.

"Bette, Tina, this is my friend Ell ya know the one who works at the LA Records Centre."
Alice introduced Ell to Bette and Tina.
"Right this is the girl you met while you were doing research for that story. It's so nice to meet you, Ell. We have heard a lot about you."
"Oh thank you. You two have a lovely home."
"Thank you."
Bette smiled.
"Well I will let you mingle, I am going to go make my rounds."
Alice said before leaving Ell stranded in the middle of a house full of people she didn't know.

Ell got herself a drink and wandered around. She found Dana and introduced herself but she was clearly stressed out. Something to do with straight people being there and getting recognized. Ell chuckled. Eventually she found herself standing by the stereo all alone staring into her drink.
"Hey"
A gorgeous girl a few inches taller than Ell, with shorter, dark, shaggy hair and piercing blue eyes spoke. Ell was left a little speechless, this girl appeared out of thin air, was absolutely breathtaking and most strangely was talking to Ell.
"Hi"
Ell said timidly.
"I uh I haven't seen you around before, are you new to town?"
"Yeah, do I really look that out of place."
The girl laughed
"No, LA is a lot smaller than it seems, especially when it comes to lesbians."
"What makes you think I'm a lesbian?"
Ell asked jokingly
"Because as far as I know there is only one straight girl here tonight and that's Bette and Tina's neighbour Jenny."
She smiled. There was a pause.
"Are you going to tell me I'm wrong"
The girl laughed
"No, you're uh you're not wrong"
Ell smiled.
"I'm Shane"
The dark haired beauty finally introduced herself.
"Ell"
The two shook hands.
An hour had passed and Shane and Ell were shamelessly flirting, making each other laugh. Ell got the sense that Shane did this with a lot of girls and didn't take it too seriously.

"Huh. Whatever. I'm just... gonna leave you two alone to get married!"
Alice got up off the couch and left Jenny and Marina. That's when she saw Shane making the moves on Ell.
"Ugh you have got to be kidding me!"
She made her way over.
"Hey Ell."
Alice smiled at her before abruptly turning to Shane and changing her attitude.
"Shane, what uh what are you doing?"
"Me? I was ummm just talking to you're, you're-"
"My friend."
"Yeah, your friend."
Shane looked surprised.
"Yeah this is Ell. I told you about her, remember we met a few weeks ago while I was working on a story."
Shane's expression didn't change.
"So lay off"
"Alice I'm sorry I didn't realize it was the same Ell."
"Uh huh yup anyways, Ell it's obvious you've met Shane have you met Dana?"

With that Alice put her arm around Ell and the two walked away from Shane. Ell was confused.
"Sorry about her."
Alice said once Shane was out of ear shot.
"I'm not sure I understand."
Ell responded.
"Look she's a little bit of a player and I just don't want her going after my friends, that's all."
"Ohhh I get it now, don't worry about it though it was just some innocent flirtation I wouldn't have gone home with her or anything like that if that's what you're worried about."
"She can be very persuasive, so just be careful."
"Alright, well I will keep that in mind."

Ell turned around to see that Shane had already moved on and was making out with some pink haired girl. Shane saw Ell though and winked at her mid kiss. Maybe Alice was right, it was obvious Shane was a player. Despite Ell's attraction to her it seemed best that she stayed away from her.

At the end of the night once everyone had left, Alice and her friends sat in the living room laughing as Ell got ready to leave.
"Hey Ell, don't go join us, please."
Alice said.

Ell made her way to the living room and sat down next to Alice. Bette and Tina laughed about their attempt at finding a donor, Dana seemed much less stressed now that everyone was gone and her and her obviously gay date Harrison laughed together. Shane sat with the pink haired girl holding hands and exchanging longing glances.

All of them chatted and laughed together for a little while. Shane was the first one to leave with her pink haired friend, the two leaving holding hands. The rest stayed only a little while longer, continuing their conversation. Soon the night was over and everyone went home. It was a good night, Ell was hopeful she had finally made some new friends.
