The smell permeating the house was pleasant enough, leading Jameson to it like a fly to sugar. He followed it to the kitchen, where he found Chase, alone, surrounded by trays and trays of baked goods; cookies, muffins, and currently he was decorating a cake with what little frosting they had on hand. There were empty bags of flour and more all over the floor.
Jameson knocked on the wall, trying not to startle Chase by being too loud, but it didn't exactly work the way he'd wanted. Chase jumped, squeezing the bag and letting out more icing than he had intended. He turned to see who had interrupted his work, eyes softening as they fell on Jameson. "Oh, hey."
Jameson waved, walking in the room to observe. "What's going on? You don't usually spend this much time baking." He watched as Chase looked around at the mess he'd made. "Did you get a little distracted?"
"Heh," Chase laughed. "More like I got too into it. Grab what you want, I think I have a couple more in there waiting to come out soon. But first, I've got to clean this up." He pointed to the cake, frowning as Jameson apologised. "It's not your fault. I don't know what came over me to make all this stuff, and I'm kind of glad you happened to walk in when you did, or who knows how much more I'd have made."
"We'll have plenty to share around, that's for sure," Jameson laughed, standing next to him, now. A timer went off nearby. "Need a hand with anything?"
"Yeah, actually, that would be great. Grab the mitts and take out the rest of the cakes. They're for my kids, if my memory is serving me well. Guess I wasn't just thinking about me with all this."
Jameson just nodded, setting to his task. Henrik could bring some to work, Jackie to his patrols, and Marvin to his stage hands. Nothing would go to waste, and that made him feel better. Though, he'd have to get a lot more flour next time he went grocery shopping if this were to become a regular thing.
