Rayne woke up with no memories of the apocalypse. Samael is just... a delinquent, who happened to find Rayne on a rooftop. They both ended up making a deal in order to survive in a world where cannibalistic monsters roam.

Kid: Alexander! But Alex is fine.

Alex: What about you miss how did you escape from all those monsters. i mean there were so many of them!
Rayne: Well... I guess you can say I pretty much slept through it? Lucky me Huh?

[Finally, she found him sitting near the woods]
Rayne: Alex!... * Sigh* oh thank god. are you ok? I've been looking all over for you! You really gave me a fright there! Alex!? What are you doing over there-
[Suddenly she step on some blood] [She stops] [SOMETHING DROPS ON HER CHEEKS FROM THE BRANCHES] [She looks to the branches] *got scared* [ a human head hanging on the branches of the wood]

Alex: Oh you are finally up! I'm sorry about the mess I was gonna clean up but you caught me! why the long face? ahh, look like you met mommy-
