Hi guys~! Chapter 3 is here! I hope you enjoy~!
(I really like HIP Wheein's look for my "Wheein" here, so.....hehe)
***********
Over the last hours of her weekend, Wheein has sent another series of encrypted messages to the hacker she has been in touch with for months, s4ndbe@chdwh4L37, but there was no response. Null. Zilch. Nada. By the way, how is that name even pronounced? Sandbeachedwhale? S--four-ndbe-at-chdw-- She decides to stop there. She's not going to pronounce the name no matter what. So be it. It's been a week since they last communicated. She started to feel worried and hoped that the person was still alive. Wheein also looked for items for protection for herself and Hyejin, and ordered protection stones, pendants, spells, etc., you name it. She hopes it arrives in the mail right away, so that she can impart some of them to Hyejin already.
And so it comes, the devil's favourite day, Monday. The early morning is an ungodly mixture of the traffic, a plethora of people commuting to work, and all the pollution. Wheein is already expecting the sky to fall, the skies burn red, and meteors hit the vicinity, monsters crawling out of the manholes, ending all life and possibly ending Monday too, but to no avail. Wheein really begins to think of moving to the countryside back to her mother for a breath of fresh air and some peace. Unfortunately, she loves her job! She loves solving crimes! For the hand of justice! She repeats that to herself like a mantra.
She has her hair tied in a loose ponytail, sporting aviator glasses, a tucked loose white shirt, a black blazer with matching black trousers and a pair black rubber shoes. She briskly walks to the police station holding a breakfast toast on one hand and a double shot espresso latte on the other. She finds her desk and comfortably leans on her chair to enjoy her breakfast. Fifteen minutes later they will gather into a room for a briefing, where they review all the active cases and may or may not be receiving new ones.
Her senior Hoseok leans by her desk to most likely ask about her weekend, and gives her an easy smile. He wears a blue polo shirt with a brown-red tie, his hair neatly styled with wax, which accentuates his handsome face.
"Hey, Wheeinie. My sister from another mother --"
"Hey, Sarge! Stop calling me that! People will come up with strange ideas!!!" ,she exclaims, sitting up straight.
"But you're like my little sister! Also, we have the same surname." Hoseok pouted, giving her puppy eyes.
"Yeah, but no." She waved with her hand.
"By the way, stop calling me "Wheeinie" in the station. People don't take me seriously because of that! It's Wheein. Jung Wheein! Ugh! I swear this is all Hyejin's fault!"
"But it's cute and it caught on.."
"Ugh!! Nooooo ....",she looks up to the ceiling, then leans back to her chair in dismay.
"Remember when the Chief called you Wheeinie?" Hoseok teasingly prompts. Wheein looked like she was having war flashbacks.
"Don't remind me!! It was the most embarrassing day of my life!"
She sighs at her desk. Hoseok leans a bit to her whispering, "By the way, you know my buddy Jinhyuk, right?"
"Huh? What is this about? Of course, I know him." she spots him a few chairs across sneaking glances at them. She even knows his dating history, everybody does. He's dated coworkers, not that she has something against it, but it gets really awkward and it can get really sour. And to add, aside from Hyejin, she's the only one he hasn't dated yet. Oh, my goodness. She tries to school her face into a blank look and not grimace.
