[The story opens in Hillside High. The bell hanging within the tower high above the roof rings outside and echo into the school halls.
In a decorated office room, Daniels Howards, the dean of the school and one that has little patience for troublemakers, reads a long list of delinquencies out loud. For every count of delinquency he mentions, his bushy eyebrows twitches.]

Howards: Skipping classes, disregarding faulty members' instructions, loitering in the hallways, refusal to hand in assignments...

[Howards finishes reading the list, and glances toward the defendant.]

Howards: So Mr. Soto, what do you have to say for yourself?

[Sitting across the desk of Howards is Elliot Soto, the fifteen year old main protagonist of the story. His eyes are calm and his hands are in his pockets, indicating he shows no sign of fear or concern to the predicament he is in.]

Elliot: I plead the Fifth.

[Bam! With his intimidating and wrestler-esque figure, Howards stands up and slams his large hands on the desk with a set of fiery eyes staring down on the much smaller and puny Elliot.]

Howards: Why you...! How dare you make a mockery of this institution! With this list alone, I could get you in detention for the next two years! Hell, I might have a chance to finally expel your a-!

[Before he could complete his tirade, June Mcglee, the history teacher of the school and who is acting on Elliot's behalf in what appears to be a trial case, intercedes from the corner of the room.
Well in her twenties, she bares a couple of youthful freckles on her face and wears her silky red hair in a ponytail.]

June: Mr. Howards!

[Frustrated and restrained by June's presence, Howards retreats to his chair and begins rubbing his temple with his fingers.]

Howards: Miss Mcglee, why am I not surprised to see you here?

June: Well, as an educator, it is my sworn duty to take care of any students that are under my wing.

Howards: Student? Oh, please! This student has not been in class for almost a week now. Also, as the dean of this institution, it is my duty to see any delinquency dealt with before it spreads. Unless you have any defense that might prove his innocence, I don't think you have a leg to stand on!

[June folds her arms in confidence and releases a devious smirk.]

June: I knew you might say that, so I had a chat with the principal ahead of time.

Howards: Ha! Such a baseless attempt to scare me. The principal himself has given me full authority to judge in this matter. What's more, you are just in time to witness the expulsion of one of your dear student that you seem to be fond of! And another thing-

[The telephone sitting near Howards begins to ring. Sweat profuse from his forehead. He reaches  for the phone and positions it close to his ear.]

Howards: Hello? Ah... Principal... I am glad you call. I was just about to expel this delinquent.... Wait... Are you telling me I can't?... No sir, I am not disagreeing with the decision... Yes, I understand. Yes sir, I will. Thank you.

[Howards sighs in defeat as he hangs up the phone. He then goes to regain his composure as not to show he was beaten at his own game.]

Howards: Very well. Understanding your situation, we decided to let you go with a warning this time.
