Arella arrived at her house just as the last rays of sunlight faded behind the mountains.
There was nothing humongous about her house, but something perfectly suited it for her. She had staff who attended to her needs and treated them with respect. Seeing her daughter disrespecting working wolves would make her mother roll in her grave. Her late parents worked hard to build the esteem and dignity of the Falcon clan empire.
Just the thought of Jasmine and Darion Falcon brought a tender smile to Arella. She missed them so much.
Two guards had arrived from the gate to pick up her partner from the car, and two maids were anxiously waiting by the door.
Arella sourly observed as they carried her mate through the threshold in the arms of a guard and chuckled. Wouldn't that be nice? To be carried in the arms of my mate across the threshold.
Once again, the fates were punishing her.
Arella scoffed before going to her maids.
She gently smiled at Elle and her daughter. Elle was a beautiful woman with long graying blonde hair, which she always wore in a braid. She had been the maid at the Falcon childhood house since Arella was born, and her sea-blue eyes looked at Arella maternally. The maid adored Arella and her parents as if they were her own. And Elle could break through her tough demeanor and become a vital part of the Alpha's life.
"Come here child!" Elle took Arella into a bone-crushing hug even though the stout woman barely reached her shoulder. It was evident that Elle was concerned about the injured man being transported into the house, but she was gracious enough to wait until the rest of the small group had left before bringing it up.
Arella gave Elle's granddaughter Cara a tender smile before she escorted the trio into the den.
"Ms. Falcon! Is that a man?!" Cara said with an incredulous stare.
Arella chuckled as the girl strained to see past her and towards the man being set in the living room. At least someone had some excitement and enthusiasm about this shitty situation.
Slowly, Arella responded to her question. "Yes, he's my mate."
After she finished speaking, Elle grabbed Arella's arm and walked her to a side room. She stared at Arella in astonishment, taking a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking.
"Arella. Darling, I've seen those clothes before. Is he from-"
"-from a wolf auction. Yes."
Elle gasped in surprise before her head snapped back. Oh, what had the fates done?
"Does he know?"
Arella sighed at Elle's question. "I don't know. But I'm sure we'll have to arrange something. I can't put it off for too long."
While it thrilled Elle that her little girl had finally found her mate, the manner in which she found out horrified her. Elle sensed a storm brewing and felt terrified.
In a hushed whisper, Elle responded to her thoughts. "He will not be happy Arella."
Arella nodded in agreement before looking back towards the man in her living room. "Well, it's too late for that."

Arella left Elle shortly after their conversation to examine the damage done to her mate. She unbuttoned her tight white dress shirt and untucked it from her skirt, slipping it up her arms. Elle had given her a first-aid kit and instructions on how to care for Mischa.
She entered the living area to see a crackling fire in her stone fireplace. The fire had faintly illuminated the entire area, and the fur rugs and candles had created a cozy atmosphere.
