CHAPTER 9: Angels Made From Neon

Neon Angel:

Coming back from BL/ind with my best friends made me feel happy; we were just driving through the desert, cruising along without a care in the world. We made it back to HQ and everyone went back to their rooms. Once everyone had unpacked we sat outside for all times sake, around the campfire sharing jokes and stories. We still had the same old boring battery food but I’m sure that will soon change! Everyone slowly started going back inside to HQ but I stayed out in the hot desert air. I also noticed that Electric Venom did the same. I sat motionless roasting a marshmallow, staring at the flames creeping and dancing off into the desert night sky. Out the corner of my eye I could see Electric Venom giving a weird look at the HQ doors. I followed his eyes to find the rest of the team mouthing something to Venom. They looked like they were shouting something at him. Once they saw me looking, they suddenly stopped and slipped back inside like nothing happened at all. We both let out a silent laugh and looked at each other. I was about to carry on roasting my marshmallow when Venom interrupted my thoughts: “Angel can I speak to you for a second?” I looked over, smiled, and replied: “Sure, what’s up?” He scooted across the sand closer to me and looked into my eyes. His beautiful bluey-grey misty eyes sunk into mine as he confessed: “I don’t know how to start this, so I’m just going to come out and say it…” I held my breath as he took a deep one in. He then started: “I’m madly in love with you Angel, I always have, I always will. I look at you and can’t help smiling, I think about you all of the time and I get butterflies. I know I’m going on a bit and you probably think of me as a brother but,” Before I could let him finish, I kissed him. Partly to stop his blabbering, but also to tell him I felt the same. He obviously didn’t mind because he kissed me back. Best. Day. Ever.

Electric Venom:

She kissed me. She actually kissed me. Not one of my little day dreams anymore. This was real. I kissed her back when I heard whooping and cheering from HQ. We broke the kiss for a moment and both looked at the front to find the rest of the team cheering, fist pumping and jumping about. Fun Ghoul faced us and exclaimed: “FINALLY!” Both me and Angel giggled and hugged each other tightly as the rest calmed down. I looked into her beautiful sky blue eyes and kissed her again. Best. Day. Ever.

Fun Ghoul:

I knew it! I knew they would do it! Everyone knew they liked each other from the start, so when they kissed, a cheer of relief washed over all of us! After a while the two love birds came in, with very excited expressions on their faces. “Guys we have something to ask you.” Angel exclaimed. Party Poison nodded and Electric Venom carried on. “Now we have killed Korse, we have nothing to do, and Angel and I were talking, and we want to see what’s outside of Battery City and the Desert, travel the world! Stuff like that!” Angel interrupted: “We’ll keep coming back to see you guys, but we were wondering if we could save up for a car to go travelling in?” They both looked at us all with hopeful expressions. We all laughed and Jet Star answered: “Of course you can! But you don’t need to save up.” Their hopeful expressions turned to confused ones as Kobra Kid explained: “We have a car for you in the garage we’ve kept for you ever since you were young.” We all smiled as they stared at us with shocked but happy expressions. “Really?!” They both said at the same time. We all nodded again and Party Poison got up from his seat. “Come on, we’ll show you.” He started to walk towards the door and we all followed excitedly out the door and into the garage. When we got inside, he ripped the sheet off a large box in the corner to reveal it wasn’t a box, it was a car. An old-fashioned car with a fold down roof. Angel gasped and hugged us all one at a time. In between hugs she said breathlessly: “Thank you! So much! Guys!” Venom just stared at the car and murmured: “It’s beautiful.” We all laughed and Party Poison stepped forward: “Go pack then!” He grinned as Angel and Venom ran outside.

Party Poison:

Whilst the other two were packing, Black Phantom and Rapid Venom walked up to the four of us sitting at the table. Rapid Venom cleared her throat, so Kobra Kid sat up and said: “Hey you two, what’s up?” I watched as nervously, Black Phantom started to speak: “Um… So, as the other two are leaving… We were wondering… We have nowhere else to go… If you needed any company?” Rapid Venom took over: “Yeah, we were wondering if we could stay with you guys…” As if by magic, all four of us stood up at the same time and hugged them both. Kobra Kid grinned: “Of course you can stay!” Fun Ghoul then said: “Welcome to the family!” We were all laughing as the other two came out with their bags. Rapid Venom and Black Phantom broke out of the hug and turned to face the others. “We’re staying!” They said excitedly to Angel and Venom. Angel jumped over and hugged them both and exclaimed: “That’s great you two!” They broke the hug and Venom put his arm around Angel and looked at her. “You ready to explore?” She nodded to him and we all went outside.

Jet Star:

As we all went outside, Venom went into the garage and started up the car. Once he drove the car out onto the hot desert sand he folded down the roof and honked the horn. We all laughed as he got out and left the engine running. Everyone lined up whilst they chucked their bags on the back seats. They then walked over to Kobra Kid who explained: "There's enough petrol in the boot to last you to the next few stations, enjoy your time out in the open!" They grinned at him, gave him a long hug and said their goodbyes. Next in line to say goodbye was me. As Angel and Venom walked over I stepped forward into a hug and said: "Stay safe out there!" They giggled and moved on to Fun Ghoul who shouted: "You better come back to see us soon!" They both nodded eagerly and Angel shouted back: "Sir yes Sir!" We all laughed but Angel's pale blue suddenly turned a shade darker as they moved on to Party Poison. I can't imagine what they both must be feeling. As much as she wants to see the world, she doesn't want to leave the man who was the most like a father to her. And as much as he wants her to live her life, he doesn't want his little Angel to leave. Venom knew how much they meant to each other, so he carried on saying good bye to Black Phantom and Rapid Venom and let Angel say good bye first. She walked over to Party Poison and without saying a word, she grabbed Poison into a bone crushing hug.

Party Poison:

If you love something, let it go.

Jet Star: 

Chrystal tears started to roll down her cheeks as she snuggled into his shoulder. He held her just as tightly and cradled her head. They didn't say anything to each other, but they could tell exactly what each other would say. As they pulled out, Poison smiled and said: "We'll miss you, come back soon." Angel nodded, all choked up and unable to speak, she moved onto Rapid Venom and Black Phantom. They wished her good luck and said their farewells. Venom gave Poison a hug and said goodbye.

Once everyone was finished, Venom took Angel by the hand and looked into her eyes. They nodded to each other, ran to the car, and jumped in. As Venom revved up the engine, we all waved as he put his arm around her in the front seat. We all waved as they drove off, honking, waving and laughing all the way into the crimson sunset.
