Spirits In The Cave

I felt it running up and down my veins. It was a kind of superpower, that suddenly woke up in me after I was trapped in that cave. It might probably have some influence on werewolves during the full moon, which I could see in all its glory on the skyline before falling here.

I stood up, looked around, and saw my brothers, lying unconsciously on the ground.

Are they dead?

That thought scared me. I will never find appropriate words to explain to our Alpha father, how he lost his little children, and what made us follow here to find our death? I don't even know if I'll see my father again. I'm so stupid on following that... Spirit...

"Brother..." someone said, waking me up from my dreams. I jumped on my two and looked around seeing the movements of my little brothers. They woke up. Yeah, they woke up. They're not dead, they're alive, safe, and... Protected. I feel that strange feeling as if we are protected here from all the evil forces of the world outside this cave.

"Brother" they called me again, making me wake up from daydreaming again. I rushed to them, fell to the ground, and hugged their heads.

"You three made me worry" I hugged them tighter, then let them free and helped to stand up. They had those strange facial expressions which I might have when I felt that kind of superpower rising in me.

"What we'll say to our father?" asked Adrian, my twin, making me look into his magnetic blue-brown eyes.

"First," I said, making him look in mine, "We need to see him."

"Let's find our way out of here!" said my younger brother, Paul.

"Mom will rip my head off if I'll not take you all out of this trouble..." I said, then looked at my hands. My veins were shining light blue as if they were full of some liquid which gives some superpower. The veins were shining as if that power was ready to be used. I raised my hand into the darkness of the Cave, and some thin blue ribbons rushed out of my fingers, then ran straight to the Cave walls, and went alongside them to disappear in the darkness.

"There's a path!" Adrian screamed, and pushed my shoulder, "Let's go! What are you waiting for? It's a way out!"

I don't know what I was waiting for, it was just that strange feeling overfilling my mind. What is the origin of those thin blue ribbons coming out of my veins? Whey my veins were shining light blue? Is this power a Curse, or a blessing? And who did it with me and my brothers?

"You know, Jake, we can think about it later!" Adrian screamed, disappearing in the darkness, where a few seconds before those blue ribbons disappeared," On the outside of this cave!"

"He's right," Dom said, squeezing my shoulder with his hand, "Let's get out, then think."

I know they are right, I just want to understand what's going on. But, maybe our father or mother can help us find out the truth?

Slowly, my legs started moving, and with my youngest brother following me. We slowly went alongside the darkness of the Cave, seeing light blue ribbons moving deeper and deeper somewhere into the unknown direction. We didn't even know are we going outside of the cave, or deeper inside it, but those blue lights were our only way to go.

"Adrian? Paul? Dom?" I called them to be sure I haven't lost any of them.

"Here" Adrian yelled back not far away from me, "Paul is here with me! "

"I'm near you!" Dom screamed almost to my ear, making me flinch. Dang. I'm not a scared pup.

"I'll go first!" I screamed, then took Dom's hand in the darkness and went closer to Adrian and Paul, and almost bumped into them. "I'll go first!" I repeated, then slipped between them and followed those blue ribbons I saw in front of myself for about a few minutes, before we all could see a light in front of us, like at the end of the cave.

Our legs started running faster and faster, and when we reached the bright light, where the ribbons disappeared, we found out we're near the Pack, under the Alpha Stone.

"I never knew there's a path under it..." Adrian whispered.

"Me neither," I got up to the grass and helped them to get out.

"So, you tell us all those two days, you were in a cave?" father's voice was calm and peaceful, instead of angry, as I imagined coming upstairs to his office. I've been here a lot since my childhood, but I've never been so scared of this place before.

" Yes, father. We followed the werewolf spirit up to that cave..." I repeated, looking straight into my father's eyes. Then, I lowered my gaze to his neck, to show my full respect. I don't want to challenge him now.

"It might be the Spirit of the Cave, as the Legend says" he suddenly said and turned his head in my mom's direction. She was sitting all this time on the sofa near the window, and hugging my younger brothers, Adrian, Paul, and Dom, while I was here sitting in a chair near my father's office table. He was standing near the window, looking into it before, and now his head is turned in my mom's direction. "Letty," he suddenly said, "You remember it?"

"It's hard to forget, honey" she answered, then stood up and graciously went into my direction, put her hands on my shoulders, and kissed the top of my head. "We're not blaming you, Jake. It might be a Moon God blessing, as the Legend says..."

"The Legend?" I asked, looking up again into my father's blue-brown eyes. He nodded, then turned back to the window and crossed his hands behind his back.

"The Legend about Moon God, giving a second chance for life to those ancients, who died in the fire in the territory of the Black Forest Pack. Due to the Legend, their spirits live deep in that cave, you've said you've been, and every full moon, spirits are moving into a werewolf body, and transform into a power, a werewolf can use to the end of his life.

"It's been a lot of years we hear about that Legend," mom said, stroking my blond lively hair, "But we never heard of any accidents, like yours, because people were afraid of those spirits and the powers, they might give."

"What powers they gave you?" father finally asked, looking straight into my eyes.

"My veins became light blue. They were shining and suddenly, blue ribbons came out of my fingers, then went straight to the darkness of the Cave. They helped us to get out!" Father only nodded, then looked at my brothers.

"What about you, boys? Have any strange feeling inside?" Father narrowed his eyes as if reading something very interesting in their heads. I was always afraid of his reading mind's ability, and always proud.

"Just hunger..." Paul laughed very silently, being a bit scared. I looked at him and immediately felt I'm ready to do everything, to make him feel safe and protected. Suddenly, my veins light up light blue and thin blue ribbons went out of the fingertips, then wandered through the air in Paul's direction. Ribbons cuddled him in a slightly visible cocoon as if to make him feel safe and protected.

"Jake!" my mother sighed, looking at my veins. Father rushed to Paul and tried to touch light blue ribbons. They slightly migrated from Paul's shoulder at my father's hand. I blinked several times to wake up from a dream.

"Jake, relax, please," Father said, hugging Paul tightly and pressing his head to his muscled chest. Paul blinked several times, then hugged dad and looked at me.

"I'm fine!"

His words made me relax, and I saw how ribbons slowly disappeared as if there was nothing here. I sighed and closed my eyes with my hands. I felt how mom hugged me tightly.

"Shhh, dear. It's fine... There can be no danger from the protective shield, isn't it?" she whispered, kissing my head.

"Protective shield?" Paul almost screamed in dad's ear, "I want the same!"

"We still need to figure out, what kind of power spirits gave you, Paul. Don't be in a hurry..." dad stood up and looked straight at me, then went closer squatted down, and put his hand on my shoulder. "I'm proud of you, Jake."

His words always were and always be very important to me. I still don't know what kind of powers my brothers and I might receive from Spirits of the Cave, but I'm ready to use them to protect my brothers, my parents, and our Pack.
