Life in prison was bland. Sarah was tired almost always. She was 8 months pregnant, and living in prison. Her cellmate was nice, but she didn't always want to help her. She always told Sarah to never look behind the toilet. Sarah was always confused on why she wasn't allowed to look. But, she had served a bit of her sentence, when she was told she would be getting a new cellmate. Her cellmate served her entire sentence, and a prisoner from a different prison would take her place.

Her new cellmate got shuffled into the cell by a police officer, and then she immediately recognized her. "Charli?" Sarah exclaimed. Charli's face lit up. "Sarah! It's been so long!" The police officer took the handcuffs off of her, and they hugged. "Oh my god, you're pregnant!" Sarah had no idea how she was going to explain what happened. She framed Charli, dated her ex-boyfriend, was carrying her ex's child, and murdered her ex. How was she going to explain what happened? How would she ever forgive her?

Charli said "Well, are you just going to stand there? Tell me everything! Why are you in jail?" Sarah didn't know what to do. She didn't want Charli to hate her, how had she not cared before? She didn't know what to do, but she just started crying.

She held her head in her hands as she sat down on the rock-hard bed. Charli sat down next to her, and said, "Do you not want to talk about it?" Sarah wanted to tell her so much. They grew up together. She trusted her, and she betrayed her trust. She wanted to get it over with. Sarah blurted, "Chase flirted with me, and then I forgot everything and he tricked me into thinking that we were married, and then I'm carrying his baby. I just got so mad, that.. that... that-" She paused. "You killed him?" Charli said. Sarah took a deep breath, and she said, "Yeah." Charli said, "I never loved him anyway. He would always say how much he loved me, but he tried to cheat on me and get the clout out of me before he turned 18. He broke my heart." Sarah was shocked.

Charli said, "Have you found out who actually did the murder of Bruno and Maria? Because I didn't do this, but they won't listen." Sarah's hands were shaking, and her stomach dropped. She didn't want to lie to Charli anymore. She didn't feel sad when she did those terrible things to her, but now her eyes consumed her. She just couldn't stop staring at her. She had never noticed how stunning she was. It felt like the world slowed down as she just stared at her. How could she ever hurt her? "Well, did you?" Charli said. Sarah immediately snapped out of it, and she reminded herself that she liked boys, and that she couldn't- and shouldn't fall in love with her best friend. She knew that she needed to tell her, and so she said, "I'm so sorry-" and was cut off by her getting choked up by her tears. Her eyes welled up, and she looked down at her feet.

She had made a terrible decision. She ruined their friendship, and she felt the gut-wrenching feeling of losing a close friend. As the tears started to roll down her face again, Charli's mouth gaped open. "Did you kill Maria and Bruno? And you blamed it on me?" Sarah broke down. She looked at Charli, and through her tears, she stumbled with her words, and uttered out, "I'm so sorry, Charli. I really am so sorry." Charli abruptly stops her rage, and sees the genuine remorse in her face.

Sarah says, "I will confess in court, and all I want is for you to one day forgive me. It doesn't have to be anytime soon, just one day please forgive me." Charli looks at Sarah, and she feels something she hasn't felt in a while, not just a look of forgiveness, but of overwhelming compassion washed over Charli's face. It was gross how someone who could do something like that, could be forgiven in an instant by Charli. Charli felt odd. She shouldn't forgive her for that. But she forgave her. Just for a second, their eyes met, and Charli felt a feeling in her stomach of excitement. Many people would describe them as butterflies in her stomach. Charli didn't want that feeling, this woman killed her inlaws, and framed her for it, she killed her ex boyfriend, and she did who knows what with him before killing him when they didn't even break up. Why does she feel like this?

Sarah, still sobbing, said, "Let's go fix this." Charli fell out of her overthinking, and they got the attention of the guard. Sarah said, "We'd like to speak to a lawyer." Charli couldn't stop looking at her, and she just wanted the best for her.

Charli interrupted the guard, and said, "Actually, we don't want to speak to a lawyer." Sarah looked at Charli, and Charli gave her a hug. "How could I spend time with you if I weren't here?" Charli said. Sarah didn't let Charli go. They sat there, with feelings for each other, but neither would tell. They finally let go, and Charli said, "What else have I missed?" They sat down on the cold, hard jail beds, and they discussed everything that they wanted to catch up on. Sarah decided that if Charli loved her enough to not want to get out of prison, even if it was only platonic, she had a chance. She decided to just try. Sarah said,

"Charli, I need to tell you something." Charli looked at Sarah and her perfectly symmetrical face. Sarah didn't know what to say, she kept stumbling on her words, and she just said, "Sorry, I just forgot."

Charli nodded, and said, "It's all good." Sarah felt disappointed that she didn't have the guts to tell her that she liked her. They continued their conversation, just like before, but now Sarah was contemplating what she should do.
