It was late at night, it had been raining hard all day and I had taken shelter in my house. Sure there was the occasional leakage but nothing some good ol' mud and earwax couldn't fix. It was getting late and I was getting ready for bed. That was until I heard a knock at the door. I opened it and there you stood in all your blue and purple beauty.

You stood in the rain, your eyes bright and wide. Your yellow teeth glowed in the dark I couldn't keep my eyes off of you.

"May I stay the night?" You asked. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. So like a fool I answered.

"Yes." And so you stayed the night and over candlelight we got to know each other more. I find out how you had gotten stuck in the rain and how a very green (and handsome) ogre had let you into his home. I got to know all sorts of things about you, where you lived, your hobbies and dreams. Most of all I learned your name. James P. Sullivan or Sully for short.

I felt like I was floating on clouds that night. I felt like you understood me and that I understood you. You had a friend but he didn't understand you. You felt like you failed at everything. You were a good person, or should I say monster? You didn't care about your social status and you were humble and caring.

I hoped that night would never end, but like all good things, it did. Now my earwax candles were almost out. I made a small bed for you on the chair. I had never slept so well in my life, knowing you were there with me was, there is no other way to describe it, heavenly.

In the mornings you had to go, but I couldn't let that happen. I felt like you were my new life like all my faults and flaws disappeared when I was around you. I felt so happy when I was with you and even though I had only known you for a few hours I couldn't let that happiness go.  So when you left to go and walk home I followed you home.

I crept behind you making sure I was out of sight. I should have felt creepy, dirty, and even disgusted with myself for doing so, but I didn't.  I felt an adrenaline rush I have never felt before. Like I was doing something so wrong it was right. After all, two negatives make a positive.

I walked with you for what felt like hours. We rested and then walked and then rested. It felt like a never-ending cycle, one I wasn't going to give up.

We eventually ended up near a clearing in the woods. I felt like I was going to pass out any second. You stopped and turned towards a tree when I saw it. In the moonlight was a gold knob, the type you would find on doors. You twisted it and sure enough, the tree wasn't a tree but a door. Inside it looked like a busy factory and there was a small green monster with one eye waiting for you. I knew who he was, your best friend Mike. You had described him as a battery coming to life, radiating energy. You two shared a few words before you went through the door.

A few seconds and I gathered the courage to go and check it out. I opened the door but all that was on the other side was tree bark. I sighed deeply. I suppose I would have to wait until for you to come out of it again if you would come out again. I waited all night imagining you. In the morning I heard a twig snap. I quickly sat up to find the cause of the noise and I smiled at what it was.
