New Maid

No One's POV

(Y/N) and Rose continued to make eye contact until (Y/N) spoke, "Where do you come from Rose?" Rose stayed silent for the young master to continue, "Why were you running away from those men?" Once again he was met with silence, so he sighed, "I guess it doesn't matter. But if you're in trouble I can offer you two things." This made Rose's ears perk up, to which (Y/N) noticed, "I can give you some money, have you taken to the next village, and say farewell. Or you can work here." Rose folded her arms as she looked down at (Y/N), "What kind of work?" "Just a maid of course."

(Y/N) stood up, "You and everyone else will get paid and have proper housing starting tomorrow." Rose kept her eyes locked on (Y/N), "Maids and butlers don't get paid. They just get food and shelter." "That isn't a set rule, so why should I follow it?" He then walked around the desk, "So, what is your choice?" Rose was still silent as she took a few steps back to stay the same distance away from (Y/N). She gave no answer for William to open the office door, "Dinner is ready sir."(Y/N) nodded to look at Rose as he headed for the door, "You think about it during dinner." 

A few minutes later the entire staff were sitting at multiple long dining tables filled with food as (Y/N) sat somewhere near the middle of the middle table. Everyone's mouth was watering as (Y/N) gave the word and they started eating. Rose was at a different table from (Y/N) as she was stuffing her face with buttery mashed potatoes, sweet rolls, honey ham, and finely cooked pork. She hadn't eaten in a few days and this was heaven for her, 'It tastes so good!' As she was eating she saw (Y/N) talking the people around him normally, which made her curious.

As she took another bite of ham she looked at the maid next to her, "Hey." The maid looked at her as she tapped her mouth with a napkin after finishing her bite, "Yes?" Rose swallowed what she had in her mouth, "What is your master like?" The maid quickly responded, "Well he hasn't really been here for more than a day. But he seems like he is nice." Rose watched (Y/N) for most of the dinner waiting for him to belittle a maid or butler, for him to just treat them with respect.

When dinner was over (Y/N) had retreated back to his chambers, for William to quickly follow him, "Sir it's late and everyone is going to bed. You should do the same." (Y/N) had papers all over his desk, "I will after I finish these papers." "If you don't mind me asking sir, what are they about." "They're to get everything for the new rooms. As well as the paychecks." "Not to sound cruel sir, but the servants have lived in those small rooms for a while. I'm sure that they can last a day at the expense of you getting some rest." "If I don't get this done then I won't be able to sleep anyways." "Then I will be retreating to my room sir." He bowed a little, "Goodnight." "Goodnight William."

William walked out of the room to look to his left, "Oh, hello Mrs. Rose." This made (Y/N) look up, "Is there anything that you need Rose?" Rose peeked her head from the behind the doorframe, "I- I just came to give you my answer." (Y/N) signaled her to come in, for the fox woman to walk in and up to his desk. She took a deep breathe to bow a little, "I would like to work for you." (Y/N) set his pen down, to put his elbows on the table, and rest his chin on his hands, "So you are fine working as a maid." Rose stood up, "Yes." "Do you have any experience?" "Yes." This surprised (Y/N) a little bit, "Who did you work for?" He was met with silence once again for the young man to not pry any farther, "You will start tomorrow. For now sleep in the room that you were taken to when you first arrived. I will have a maid help you understand what goes on around here." Rose bowed a little, "Thank you." She then left his study for (Y/N) to continue his work.

Two Weeks Later

The maids, butlers, and chefs soon came to like (Y/N). He was fair and kind to them, and the fact that they were being paid helped a lot. Rose however was still skeptical and was still waiting for him to show his true colors. Today she was helping clean the dining room. She was still getting used to the maid uniform as it had been a while since she had worn one. She adapted quite quickly to the mansion though, but kept to herself and rarely spoke to the other servants. She was wiping the table for Michael to walk up to her, "Um, excuse me." Rose looked at him for the young man to speak again, "Master wishes to speak to you." The fur on Rose's tail stood up a little as she walked over to his study.

When she walked in she saw (Y/N) and William going through suitcases making sure that they had everything. The master noticed Rose to greet her, "Ah good morning." The fox bowed in response for (Y/N) to look down at his desk, "I have to go for a while as I need to attend a business meeting, William is coming with me. Michael will be holding down the fort, and I am asking you to come with us." Rose gave something like a death glare, "Why?" "Well my friend and I have a representative that is coming, but she can be-" William finished his sentence, "Quite a hassle." Rose folded her arms, "So I'm a babysitter." (Y/N) closed his suitcase, "You will also be helping me during the meeting in a way that I will explain while we are there." 

A few hours later (Y/N), William, and Rose were waiting near the gate as William explained that the representative was picking them up. They soon saw a carriage come up for it to stop a few feet in front of them, for Rose to see a womanly silhouette through the curtained window. She noticed (Y/N) looking uneasy as well as William fidgeting with his glasses and whatever was in his pockets. Rose was now becoming a little scared as she thought, 'Who can possibly scare these two?'
