You brushed out your damp hair while sitting in bed in your pajamas. Today had been... strange, but at least it was a change. The brush stopped in your hair, and you turned to glance at your dresser where a black box you had brought out of that store sat. What did that store sell again?

You couldn't seem to remember. You tried to think of what had happen while you were in the store, but your memories were all a blur. All you could clearly remember was an old man, his name was Mr. Muto(that you could remember), telling you that if you didn't like what was inside the box you could bring it back to the store, and get something else.

"But why did I even chose it in the first place?" You muttered to yourself.

The box was about the size of a shoe box and made from wood so dark it looked black. It was kept locked by a small silver clasp and hardly weighted anything, but Mr. Muto insisted that it did have something inside that might be valuable. "Might." "Something." Yes, today was strange, and most likely a waste of time. You blew out a breath then stared back at the box.

It gave you an eerie feeling, but you had an uncontrollable need to know what was inside the moment you saw the black box. There were other items you could have chosen, like a pretty music box or a small pocket mirror, yet when you reached out your hands went strength to the box. Mr. Muto wouldn't tell you what was inside. All he would tell you was that you had to find out for yourself later that night.

You stared at the box sitting on the dresser a minute longer then sighed. "Well, it's later and night. Guess I'll find out what's in there now."

You got up with your brush still in your hand and went to the dresser where you set it down. Your fingers touched the sliver clasp, and pushed it up to unlock the box. For a moment, the room felt colder, but you ignore the chill as your heart started to beat noisily in your ears. Your lips began to feel dry, so you nervously licked at them as you tried to stop your hand from shaking. It was only a box, and you didn't even know what was in it, so there was no need to feel afraid. Yet, you were afraid. Was it animal instinct?

"Silly," you breathed, and flipped open the lid.

For a second, you were sure that the lights in the room flickered, but it happen so fast that it could have been your eyes blinking too fast from anxiety. Still, you waited to see if the lights were flickering as you looked around your room. You were about to take a deep breath when a whispering noise started coming from behind you, but when you turned back round the whispering stopped.

"But I did hear something," you told yourself, "I know I did."

You were about to just close the box, but when you glance down you saw what was hidden inside. Anxiety left like a breeze out the window, and you felt ridiculous for getting all worked up over nothing. Inside the box was a thin yellow piece of blank paper.

"I've been scammed."

You huffed at the disappointing reveal then laughed a little. It's not like you paid for the box with any money. "Just my time, and it was wasted on a dumb prank."

You tapped your fingers on the side of the box then pick up the piece of paper to see if there was anything on the other side. There were small, printed words in the middle of the paper so small that you had to bring it closer to read. Soulmate Summoning Spell, the first line at the page read, and you had to laugh.

"A spell? Really?" You giggled again, then brought the piece of paper with you back to the bed. The instructions were easy enough, but the first part of incantation was written in another language, and the last part that was readable sounded silly, if not a little creepy. Really, weren't you too mature to be dealing with love spells? Then again, it's not like you had anything else to do.
