“No no no, you don’t get it ray. We’re looking for this angle here, not that one. We have to find that angle to work out this one. If all angles on a point add to 360, and if that one is the same as that, then these have to be the same. So take the 63 from that, add it to the 35 from there and take it away from 180, then that’s your answer.” I explained for the fifth time to my best friend as I pointed to the papers in front of us.
“Right, so, where’s the 180 from again?” she asked with the same confused expression she had half an hour ago.
I sigh, frustrated, but smiled at how dumbfounded my friend Ray could be. “Look, the angles in a triangle add up to 180, yes? Well we know two angles, so we add them and take them away from the 180, leaving us with that angle. Which is 82.” I tell her as she pushes her messy blonde hair back from her face with her hands while banging her head gently on the desk top.
“Ahh, Mia, you’re the smart one who gets all this, I’m not. Can’t we just go to a party?” she moaned.
“No Ray, your behind, and your failing maths now, and I promised id help you, so we have to do it, and you have to get it, I’m not having you wind up living in a cardboard box” I joked all too seriously.
“Ahh, do we have to, I want to party, come on, you hardly ever come to a party with me, please” she whined giving me very ineffective puppy dog eyes.
“Fine. I’ll compromise with you. It’s only, 8 pm, so I’m sure there are many parties going on, so if we get this done, and you understand it, then ill dress up and come to a party with you” I sighed.
“Oh, oh. Can I give you a make-over, please, you hardly wear any make up, you will look so pretty, please, and I choose the party” she bargains with me.
“Fine, but we have to get this done first.” I tell her before turning back to the work.
It’s amazing how quick Ray is able to understand and accomplish things she had trouble with before when something is on offer. Well, that’s ray, my typical best friend, loves to party and drink the night away. I’m not going to lie, she’s pretty and always gets guys flirting and dancing with her, and she loves the attention. Me, I’m not into that stuff. I don’t party, or dance, I don’t get attention from boys, I don’t like attention, I don’t really mind how I look as long as I’m half decent, focusing more on my almost perfect A-A* grades.
Ray finishes the work in record time and flies to my wardrobe to pick me and outfit. She won’t find much; I’m not really into amazingly expensive, fancy clothes. She throws clothes my way as I laugh and duck before she comes back with what she thinks is the best clubbing clothes I have. She pulls out a ‘fashionably’ worn pair of jeans (how worn out jeans are fashionable I don’t know) and a fitting deep blue strapless top.
