CHAPTER 1
Adriana Lewis couldn't wait for the bar to close. Another night cleaning job. She needed every bit of money she could get. It was time to move out of home. Her stepfather was a pig, her mother was all about herself, all about the stars and shit. Real loose cannon. Her mother Fay always ended up with dead beats and Carlos was like the worst thus far.
How she married him was beyond Adriana. Like he was a pig... In every sense of the word.
It didn't help that they were living literally in a shack. It was so small... Carlos made her mother sell her house and give him the money... Great. Fucking great. Now they had to settle for this shit hole.
Now Adriana who was only twenty one had only lived to look out for her mother was done with that life. Carlos trying to get into her pants was the last straw. Time to move... Her mother was a grown up, she knew better. She had to know better. Enough.
Adriana would soon have enough money to move out... She would work like a dog...
And she did work like a dog. Literally, cleaning toilets, scrubbing houses, filthy houses. She took jobs that were so scummy you wouldn't think twice to take... But she took the jobs nobody wanted, she needed the money.
The bar was the only okay job so far. Only problem was it was late... Always after three in the evening. She would have to wait and clean it up every Saturday.
She was early tonight, so she hung around and had herself a drink. She looked at the customers hoping they just left already.
Not that she had anywhere better to be, she didn't want to go home and face that son of a bitch.
Adriana opened her lap top and tried to get some work down. Her assignment was due and if she didn't send it in time she would fail the course. Administration 101...
She needed to do something with her life, something productive... Cleaning was the only thing she was sort of qualified to do... Wasn't great money but it was money.
"Hey... Can I buy you a drink?" Adriana looked up and found a youngish man looking at her
"Um... No thank you. I'm good."
"Na, come on... One drink."
"Really, I'm good thank you." She nodded her head. This man sat down opposite her on the booth and looked at her. Um... What?
"I insist. One drink. I am not going to take no for answer."
"No. Thank you. I have to finish this." He must have understood that she was not going to give and take. He shrugged his shoulders and stood up.
"Stuck up bitch..." She heard him tell him his group of friends. Whatever idiot.
And it was closing time. Finally. Adriana could see the last of the customers. Jerry the owner indicated for her to start cleaning. She closed her lap top and began to wipe the tables, put the chairs up.
A few men hung around with Jerry talking at a table. Adriana did her job not giving them much attention. The discussion became heated. She did her best to keep away. Only until she was ready to start vacuuming. She didn't want to be rude but she wanted to finish. She walked over to speak to Jerry and ask him if it was okay for her to start the vacuum. Only he wasn't there. Three men sat there.
One of them looked up at her with his piercing blue eyes. Hot as hell... Yep.
"Um, where's Jerry?" She asked looking around.
"Needed to step out." The blue eyed man replied.
"Oh... Well, okay, do you guys mind if I start the vacuum?" Adriana kind of felt uneasy having three strangers here without Jerry.
