"It's not true," Red countered, folding his arms across his chest. He shook his head in disapproval at Green's retelling of Pokemon Tower ghost story. Nobody knows the actual story because it was just another legend the local would joke about to the tourists. Outside the Pokemon Tower, a burial place for lost and forgotten Pokemon, the locals would tease the tourists by asking something like 'do you believe in ghost' and if the person denied, they would add 'then I don't understand why there's a white hand on your shoulder.' It was simply childish.
Leaf shook in terror beside Red. She absolutely hated when Green told her about the supernatural. Spooky ghost and goblins were not her cup of tea.
"It's okay, Leaf,'" Red comforted her, placing a warm hand on her back. "Just ignore Green. None of it is real."
"Yeah it is," Green smirked, staring down the couple with his emerald eyes.
Red took the bait and fired back, "It's not even scary!"
Green snickered at him mischievously. "Then prove it; I bet you can't last an hour in
the tower!" he challenged. Red accepted his challenge, stepping into the tower.
Leaf felt nauseous waiting for her poor boyfriend outside the walls of the tower. For all
she knew, Green could be telling the truth and Red could be dead! What a horrible fate that would be for the boy she loved so much.
"Times up," Green announced surprised an hour later. "We can go fetch him out..." Leaf could tell Green was upset with the loss. He huffed as the two of them stepped into the haunted tower.
"Red?" Leaf called in a worried tone.
There was no response.
"He's okay, don't worry about it." Green led Leaf up a staircase to the next floor. Leaf
made sure to stay close to her friend as they passed many channelers communicating with the dead. With every floor they went up, more extreme supernatural events occurred. Channelers seemed as if they were zombies. Others looked devilish, even possessed. Creepy hums of a children's rhyme rang through the tower and only got louder as they reached the next floor.
"Green," Leaf whispered, "What if we don't find Red?"
Green gave a suspicious smirk. "Don't worry. We'll find him..." Leaf couldn't help but feel that something was wrong. Something just didn't seem........ right.
The two of them climbed the final steps of the tower. Leaf prayed to Arceus that her lost boyfriend wasn't in any danger, or dead for that matter. Green smiled as the poor girl shook in terror while she tied herself tightly around his arm.
"Oh," Green shrieked fakely, "What in the world is that? Is it a ghost?"
Leaf screamed loudly as the aspiration neared the two. Green instead laughed hysterically, scaring Leaf even more. Who in their right mind would find humor in this?
As the ghost came to a foot away from them, it was clear what it was. A Marowak from another hideous folk tale stood before them. This was a mother of a Pokemon that sacrificed herself to save her child. It was said in the lore that she lost all trust of human beings after it died. Forever, she guards the tower of evil humans, awaiting her long lost child to return to her.
"Marowak," Leaf breathed in fear.
Green chuckled, offending the vengeful spirit. The dead Marowak swung the bone in her hand, knocking Green onto the steps below. "Hey!" Green shouted angrily. "That's wasn't part" Before the greeneyed boy could finish his complaint, the bone impaled his chest, killing him.
In a fear for her survival, Leaf climbed the steps, leaving the enraged ghost behind. She wasn't sure she would live long enough to escape, so instead she kept running. She ran until she stopped before Marowak.
Leaf's screams vibrated the air around her. The little Marowak held its ears, attempting to mute her screeching. Red dashed in from behind the darkness, holding his girlfriend in his arms.
"It's okay, it's just me! Green and I were trying to scare you!"
Leaf calmed down, realising she had been deceived. She giggled uncomfortably until she was no longer in shock. "Oh," she sighed. "Well you definitely frightened me!"
"Well I hope my little Marowak didn't scare you too much," Red laughed alongside her. "So what happened to Green?"
"Don't act like you don't know," Leaf played along. "I already know you guys were being mean. Nice special effects by the way; Green looked like he was totally killed by Marowak on the stairs."
Red stared at Leaf in confusion. "What special effects?"
