Chapter 2

I realized three things in that moment.
1. There is more than one gender.
2. I'm a female.
3. I am attracted to males.

It was such an interesting concept to me that there is someone who is "opposite" of me, for lack of a better term. Before then, i hadn't thought about it. I was so distracted by the appearance of a fellow human, that I forgot to get back behind the tree. scratch that. I did, but I didn't make it in time.

I heard a deep chuckle, emanate from the figure. I liked the sound of it.

He walked around the tree, smiled, and said, "boo".

Then, he did a little bow and said, "My name is Aspen Lux. I am at your service my lady."

I was so confused. Who was he? Why was he there? Did he know me? Was I supposed to bow back?

I wanted to ask all of these questions, but he beat me to it as he said, "I already answered that. I'm here for you. Yes, I do know who you are. No, I'm not expecting a proper greeting back. That would require you to have a name." At the end he smiled a sheepish smile. I just stood there with my mouth hanging open. I didn't even have a name.

He turned and pleasantly said, "Come on. We've got a lot of ground to cover today."

I didn't move. Then, i asked, "Why should I?"

The noise that projected from my throat sounded quiet, and out of use. I realized that these were my first words!

He started to clap his hands together and said, "Bravo. She speaks!"

I instinctively put my arms over my chest, and took a step towards him. "Why should I?" I repeated. He took a step towards me and said, "Because that's the only way to get the answers to your questions."

"What if I don't want answers?" My high pitched voice asked as I took another step forward.

"Then i'll make you come" he replied. With a final step forward, he grabbed me around the waist and hoisted me over his shoulder.

I didn't know what to do! Did I try to fight him? No, he was obviously too strong for that. Did I scream? No, the chances of anybody hearing me were slim. That is, if anybody else existed besides the two of us.

I decided that the best thing to do was to just let him carry me away. If this really did turn out to be a dream, then it wouldn't matter. If it wasn't, at least I might end up in a place with more people! How exciting!

After making this decision, I stayed quiet. I didn't know what people talk about when they're being carried through a forest over the shoulder of a strange man. Alone.

He walked for a while, then there was another sound. However, this one seemed to come from my abdomine. Suddenly, I started to have a pain in that region.

He chuckled and said, "She speaks again." Then, "Well, I guess this is a good enough spot to rest."

He set me on my feet gently. Even so, I felt off balance, at least in my head. He smiled, and steadied me. I decided that I liked his smile.

He pulled a mashed, brown thing that was covered in something shiny. He handed it to me, and then pulled out another one, which he kept. he proceeded to peel off the shiny stuff, and shoved the brown mass into his mouth. I copied him. I decided that I liked it. It was savory, and sweet; at the same time. It was amazing! It was so amazing that i shoved half of it into my mouth, and tried to swallow without chewing.

I couldn't breathe. I started to panic again. He hit me on the back until air got my lungs agian, then his hand lingered on my upper back. I liked the feel of his hand on my back.

He blushed, and pulled his hand away. He avoided eye contact with me for a short time after that. Why would he do that? Finally, after a long silence, he pulled out an animal skin with a spout of some kind. He said, "Drink it, you're obviously dehighdrated."

I did as I was told. I couldn't resist the urge to keep going, as I felt the cool liquid running down my throat. I decided that water was the best. I drank until it was gone, then handed it back to him apologetically.

He laughed "I told you so. Now, let's keeps moving."

We kept walking for hours. Neither of us really knowing what to say to each other, so we walked mostly in silence.

The sun started to set and he asked, "Are you excited?"
"I don't know what to be excited about." I replied. I didn't want to answer like that because for some reason I wanted him to accept me, but it was the truth.

Then he asked, "I show you something really cool, would you be excited?" He seemed to not want to break eye contact now. Why?

I nodded, and as the sun dropped beneath the earth, another light appeared.
