Aimée was late.

Normally, she would do the whole "run to school with toast in mouth" cliché, but she realized the toast was flavorless.
Plus, her mother was starting to get upset all she ate was toast.

Aimée yawned as she finished her eggs, downing the orange juice.
"Be careful, kid. You're going to choke." Her mother, Kiara, spoke. Kiara's voice wasn't very soft, it was rather rough and a bit deep.
"Don't worry, maman, I'm fine, but I'm late!" Aimée replied. Kiara sighed.
"I know. Aimée, make sure you don't-"
"-Rip off the prosthetic, I know! I've been using it for a long while, I've got it down by now."

Aimée stood up and picked up her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder.
Kiara smiled, kissing her forehead.
"Go kill the day, mon chou."
Aimée grinned and gave her mother a big hug, then pulling back and walking to the front door.
"Je t'aime!" Kiara called out.
"Je t'aime aussi, maman!" Aimée replied before leaving her home.

The bus left twenty minutes ago, and Aimée had to walk.

More like run.

Aimée didn't like walking, as she knew she'd end up even later than she wanted. Instead, she ran. She was in a rush, however it quite didn't go in her favor as she ended up running for thirty minutes. Straight. By the time she got to school grounds she was out of breath and energy. She was hunched over, hands on her knees, heaving.
It took her a few minutes to somewhat catch her breath.

Aimée walked into the school, going through the process of getting a tardy ticket through the office. After all that was squared away, she got into the main hall, walking down the hall. She shifted the weight of her backpack to her other shoulder, so it wouldn't dig into her skin as much. She ran her fingers through her hair, brushing out any stray knots her hairbrush didn't get out earlier.

The sound of a violin started filling her sense of sound.
Aimée stopped, though she knows she shouldn't have. She stopped and she turned around to look at where the noise was coming from.
It was beautiful, a creation of cleverly placed notes to make the beauty of a song.

She didn't notice when, but she got in front of the door at some point. Despite the biting anxiety that it was a class, she opened the door and found a lone girl practicing the violin.

The girl had the perfect posture, bow with the perfect amout of resin, instrument perfectly tuned to her needs.
Her hair was long, straight, smooth, and elegant. It's butterscotch brown color made her look sweet, yet mature as she had brown eyes to match. She had a beauty mark right under her left eye on her cheek.
As this girl played her violin, Aimée couldn't help but fall in love with the music.

All too suddenly, the music abruptly stopped as the girl noticed Aimée.
"..."

"O-Oh! Erm, I'm sorry! I heard you playing and couldn't help but listen."

The girl stared at her, an expression of surprise plastered on her face as she got more pink in the cheeks.
"A-Ah, well, th-thank you..." The girl spoke. Her voice was light, soft, airy. Aimée felt small in front of this gorgeous musical goddess.
"Your playing, it's-"
"Amateur. I understand. I am still practicing." The girl cut them off, despite their soft voice not being as audible as Aimée's.
"No! It's magnificent! Ahurissant! Incroyable!"

The girl stared at her a bit blankly, not understanding her French.
"Is....that English?" She asked.
"Oh, ah, no, my apologies. It's incredible! Stellar! Extraordinary! Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm Aimée."
"I, ah.....I am Colette." The girl responded timidly.

"Colette? I'll be sure to remember...Gah! I forgot I have to get to class! I'm so sorry, I have to go! Au revoir!" Aimée panicked, rushing out of the room and down the hall.
"Au.....revoir.....?" Colette copied, tilting her head.
Then she smiled. She liked this one.

Aimée ran down the hall, hoping to get to class. She was leaning forward a bit, staring at the floor. How could she get distracted? That was immature of her. She shouldn't have stopped-

Thwack!

She ran right into something hard, stumbling backwards and clutching her nose.
"Look where you're going, girl."
Aimée looked up at the annoyed voice, seeing a tall, frustrated male.
"I'm sorry, sir." She gulped, getting anxious.
The guy started walking away, mumbling to himself.
Aimée watched and called out after him "If it makes you feel any better, I hurt my nose real bad!"
The boy stopped.

"Yeah. That does make me feel better."

Aimée sighed as he walked away.
"So much for making a new friend, eh?" She huffed, making sure she was okay before walking to her class.

The male watched her as she walked away, smiling to himself.

Aimée finally got to class...as soon as the bell rang.
"Merde." She muttered under her as she started walking to her next classroom. This time, getting there on time.

Class wasn't too hard, then again Aimée was a successful student. She mostly got Bs, the only other thing she would get would be an A. Math was her easiest subject, as she took a lot of notes and practiced problems on her own time, typically after school. The test she was taking was a breeze, and she quickly found herself finished and turning in the paper. After the paper was turned in, she took her notebook out and started writing. Time really flew by, as soon the bell rang, indicating lunch time.

She put her things away and put her bag over her shoulder. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that guy from before...but ignored him. He was a bit of a jerk, and wasn't about to get involved with him again. She quickly left the room and made her way to the cafeteria. When there, she got her meal and left the building.
She went out to the courtyard, where not many kids went. It was quiet, and preferred. She sat down on one of the eleven wooden benches scattered around.

Aimée started eating her lunch as she stared into the sky, counting clouds. She was halfway through her meal when she heard a small, soft "hey". She looked down from the sky, seeing none other than Colette timidly standing there with her meal.
"May....I....urm...sit with you?" Colette asked.
"Yeah, of course. I don't mind in the slightest, ami."

Colette smiled a little and sat down next to her.
They ate in silence together, which was comforting to both of them, but eventually it started getting a little awkward when they finished their food.
"So...You're a musician, what is it like? I've never been able to play instruments."
"It....it is quite enjoyable. It is a comfort to me. It makes me feel warm, and...well, joyful." Colette responded.

"...I like you." Aimée smiled. "But in seriousness, that sounds like me with writing."
"You are a writer?" Colette questioned, and Aimée's eyes lit up.
"Yes~! I am a writer. It's so amazing how you can create worlds with words."

They continued to converse until the class bell rang once again.
Aimée stood up and smiled.
"It was great talking to you! But I need to head to class. I'll talk to you later, Colette! Au revoir!" Aimée said with much enthusiasm, smiling and skipping off with her black backpack.

Colette just sat there for a moment.
"I...Hope we get closer, Aimée..." She whispered.

"And I will have to hope you don't." Whispered a stranger's voice. Colette freaked out, getting up and backing away from the greenery and running off inside.
Wise.
