Chess was a pied kingfisher and he was a newly appointed sentry. They were the ones who went to the sentinels with crimes, who kept things in check. Chess turned up at the Directors of Deeds and asked for his first mission, he was nipping at his beak, and if he was a dog, his tail feathers would be shaking from left to right. While the Head Director was going through the most recent case files Chess awaited his verdict. "There's a trashed lake east of here, nothing too difficult. Nice and easy first case, all you have to do is find the ones responsible. There was a flock of local House sparrows that had to migrate away so the punishment will be decided on the bases of appropriate community work or something like that" the director said "But isn't an offence of that level something that offends the Laws of Leaves ? I think destroying the environment in such a way and wrecking the habitat of a flock is worth the tree treason!" Blurted out Chess, he ought to have regretted it instantly but during the heat of things that didn't come to thought." It of course depends on the case file you compile that will then be sent to the Scroll Sentinels."

Chess flies the 1 and a half hour flight to the lake and stops at the wires on the way to collect all the rumours based on the case. He was determined to impress the Director of deeds. The locals said that the lakes water levels had also decreased, as that wasn't part of the case specifications so he dint pay heed to it.

Upon reaching the lake Chess took sketch samples on the shocking environment of the area, there was plastic debris all over it. When diving into the investigation part of the process he found out the culprits with barely any effort as it was obviously the humans who caused this.

On the fly home Chess thought to himself, "Why was the judge so casually talking about irrevocable damage? Habitat destruction was no joke. It must be a common case. "Chess was determined to look more into the cases on this breach on the Laws of Leaves, which also included the laws of nature, as they were one and the same thing.

Chess hands over the case file and waits a few weeks for him to get the update. Wether he stays on the case, it gets transferred or if it closes, Which is unlikely. But Chess was immediately proved wrong when the file comes back as closed. Enraged as he was he goes to the head again, asking for a reevaluation. But was shocked when the director told of the reason for his dismissal

"We get this verdict way too often child, the charges against humans are immense, if we started punishing them on everything they would be in a sorry state. "He said solemnly, regretting that there indeed was nothing that could be done. But Chess countered his statements with great pomp until irritated he led him to the shelves with the files of Humans Crimes Against Nature.

Chess goes through not even 1/200 of them over the course of three weeks as there really was an intimidating amount of them before deciding that he will file a case against the humans.

The bird called Chess writes a book with his own beak briefly covering the vast crimes of the humans. After being evaluated by the Sentinels of scrolls it was deemed 'The Biggest Crime of All'
