The Beginning

"Proud of you Avery, aren't you?" crackled Briny, the uncanny boy who had recently moved in next door. I had fallen out of my pirouette in front of the entire dance class. As a matter of fact, everytime he was around I felt decentralized on what I was doing, or at least attempted to do.

To top it all, on that day, Mrs. Byrne wanted the class to create a choreography whilst putting the emphasis on the 'connection with our dance partner' which we would have to perform in an hour's time. I was convinced that this was going to be totally superb when Mrs. Byrne paired me with Briny. He had such a broken sense of humour, I really did not like him.

Although surprisingly Briny was not that bad of a co-worker, he had both great and genius ideas. Except that of course, last minute before we were to perform, he told me to add the last part of Angel's choreography and as I refused he said sarcasticly, "C'mon m'dam, risks are what makes every dance pace passionate." Before I could even accept his challenge Mrs Byrne called out our names, "Avery Dupré and Briny Foss"
The moment I started going with the flow of the music, everything became so odd and as Briny had mentioned earlier, 'passionate'. It was a as though the world had stopped , everyone around seemed to have vainshed like gust and time seemed to have stopped ticking. It was only him and I . The last part of the choreography went fair well and it was somehow awkward as Briny had his hands on my shoulder and waist as we performed a synchronised 'pas chassé'.
As we were the last dance duo ,when we were done performing Mrs Byrne waved everyone goodbye.

As I was getting my waterbottle and grabbing my backpack backstage, I caught a look at Briny. He was what I definitely considered flirting with 'da girls' .That's what I called them, it was Mellia's, Alexis' , Ellie's and Athenaïs' friends group. They all seemed to be very close, they had been hanging out with each other since 5th grade. I often wondered what they did whenever there was an argument because as human as I was, I could assume that in 6 years time they had to have an argument, they couldn't have agreed on everything for the last 6 years, or could they?

Ahh, I smiled and rolled my eyes agreeing with my subconscious that they probably had at least one argument. What I didn't realise on the other hand is that Briny had came my way.
-What's so funny Avery? You having a conversation with your tiny little brain because you're too lonely again, he shot at me sarcastically.
As I mentioned earlier, such a broken sense of humour as I replied...
-Haha .Nothing that might interest you as long as I am aware of
- Seemed as though it really is to you right? he winked while saying so
I stopped a second then said
- I've got to keep going, I've got loads of work to do.
-Dupré, Avery Dupré totally fits you huh
-What do you mean by that?
I looked at him straight in the eyes and it's only then that I realised that he had breathtaking eyes.
-'Du prè-s' that means from nearby in french and you lowkey live next door
- Well yeah I'm the girl next door I guess but let's be for real, you're the boy who just moved in next door, I've always lived there.
I got lost in his marine eyes for a second then I remembered that I was about to leave.
-I still have got a bunch of work to do you know, I actually better keep going
I walked off to the door and just before I left Briny spoke again which caused me to turn around.
-Ayy, maybe that brain ain't that tiny afterall Avery, that A in Maths today was terrific
-Surely isn't Briny, my brain got a whole stack of info well kept.
I smiled and got going. I definitely would haven't liked staying to chit chat more with him plus my work wouldn't get done by itself.
