(A/N: I don't know about you, but I'm feeling ___"
Don't worry I'll never start a chapter like that again!)
______________
Louis is beyond giddy.
All day he had been dancing around Harry's texts, eye contact, and subtle hints that he wanted to see Louis tonight. Louis would feel bad for continuously ignoring the other man's persistent methods of getting his attention, if not for the fact that he's too thrilled about what will be happening later.
It was two days before the vault job and Louis knew that he should've been paying attention to that fact; should be conspiring with Lorne about the ways to get evidence of Harry in the midst of stealing the diamonds. They'd already decided Louis would be wire tapped with a hidden camera. That's the main focus; that's what should be at the forefront of his mind.
But it's not. It hasn't been since three days ago when Louis decided to cook up the exciting idea that's currently running on a hamster wheel in the confines of his brain.
He glances at Harry who's sat at the head of the board room table. His hair is tied in a small bun and his eyes are locked on a stack of papers in front of him. He looks up then and immediately meets Louis' eyes. Not for long though, as Louis impressively averts his gaze in a nanosecond.
Harry's voice adopts a little edge just then, like he's irritated. Louis won't let that knowledge distract him though. It'll all be worth it at the end of the day.
...
The plan started when Louis was eating eggs in the hotel lobby one morning. He normally takes his breakfast in his room but he felt energetic that day - like he just needed to be productive or he'd combust into thin air. As such, he threw on a pair of black jeans and a white tank and booked it to the little cafe on the main floor of the hotel.
After consuming three quarters of his cup of coffee and half of his meal, it hit him like a ton of trucks what he should be doing.
See, Louis had already known that he wanted to throw Harry a surprise birthday party.
He had known since that day when Harry said no one would show up to a party in his honor, at least while they were in Montpellier. From that second, Louis had started a list of the kinds of drinks he'd arrange for the guests when February 1st rolled around.
However, he had thought the party would be done on Harry's actual birthday. He had wanted to do it at the 'Enchantment' Bar since he did like the vibe the last time he was there. It was just going to be a few people from the team and they were going to eat gross food and drink margaritas all night. Louis also thought it would be easy to convince people to show up since Harry's birthday is the day after the vault job. Should the plan be successful, everyone would want to ride their high out and celebrate together. Regardless of how intimated everyone was by Harry, there was no way they would pass up the opportunity to see him in a casual setting.
But then, as Louis cut into his sunny side up, he realized Harry would probably expect it. Louis had already told him he'd throw him a party, and even though he was joking, he isn't sure if Harry would still be peeking over his shoulder waiting for it when the day finally came around. Even worse, Louis started worrying that Harry would think the only reason people were there for the party is because they were celebrating the success of the night before (and even though that would technically be true and something Louis had been counting on), he didn't want Harry to think that.
