I don't get injured very often, mostly because I refrain from playing and doing dangerous things like that.
I'm not very good in situations where other kids get hurt, especially when it's a proper injury, not just a scrape. At school, on the playground, playing tag or whatever other game, kids always trip and fall, and I watch them do it. They cry no matter how minor the wound, but sometimes, on a few occassions, they're properly hurt.
One time, I was snacking on some bread which had been part of a sandwhich, but sometimes I seperate the sandwich and eat the different parts seperately, no idea why. This was one of those days, I don't know why I remember exactly what I was eating while spectating this but whatever. Anyway, the other kids were playing Red Light, Green Light. I've always wanted to play that game.
A tangent, sometimes I place a toy on my bed, gather the rest of them, line them up against the wall, and play this game myself. I imagine the toys moving yet somehow I always win. Top Tip: To win Red Light, Green Light have all your opponents be inanimate objects! Back to what I was saying:
The one kid, I think his name was Ji-hun. He was being very unfair, as the caller, he called Red Light far too quickly after shouting Green Light.
One boy, Do-hyeon, got very tired of him being unfair, rightly so. Me and my bread were rooting for Do-hyeon from the audience.
So after Ji-hun shouted Green Light, Do-hyeon decided to make the most of the short time he had to actually run.
And boy, he could run.
He covered a quarter of the yard in around 2 seconds, I was rather amazed, it would've remained mighty impressive had his 8 year old body not decided to give up on him. He pushed his limits to much, I think, so he completely dropped to the floor.
He went down faster than I could ever imagine running myself.
I gasped, loudly, almost choking.
I was worried people heard my very dramatic reaction so I ran behind the friendship bench.
Friendship Bench: Something one of my schools made for lonely kids to sit on so other kids could see and invite them to play.
So yeah, me, kneeling there, bread in hand, in that split second, then there was a loud shriek.
You'd think he was dying. I certaintly did, me and him were both crying.
So I found out the next day he dislocated his elbow.
I went home that day, after he had his little accident, and I needed an hour of consolation from my Mother.
I couldn't imagine doing something like that.
I even googled it. It looked dreadful. I felt ill. I could never...
I was sort of sad the day after the event though. He seemed to be thriving, and everyone was writing on his cast. I thought that was a weird thing to do, to sign someones cast. But I sat there fiddling with my pen, envious of everyone who got the chance to sign his cast. I really wanted to.
"Get well soon, Do-hyeon!" Is what I very desperately wanted to write. I never got the chance.
The worst injury I have suffered is maybe the time I fell down the stairs.
It hurt, sure, but I very much milked the attention my Mother gave me.
Basically, I was going downstairs to ask my Mother what was for food, I wasn't paying any attention hence I tripped on thin air and went toppling down the stairs and into the set of drawers at the bottom of our stairs. I screamed so much my throat ended up hurting way more than the fall itself, It hurt, but it didn't hurt THAT much.
I loved the aftermath though, I had a bruise for like... a day, but my Mother made me Honey and Lemon for my sore throat, and I fell asleep on her lap. I don't know if Honey and Lemon is common for anyone else, but it tastes lovely, it soothes sore throats too!
I don't get ill either, it's not just physical wounds I've successfully dodged throughout my life.
OH!
One time, I made the mistake of using the school bathroom, I was just washing my hands, quickly too, before the scent of... toilet and deodorant (seriously, why so much deadorant) got into my clothes. Plus, I don't think I could've held my breath for any longer.
And just as I finally was about to swing the door open to leave, to freedom, to fresh air, I heard someone make an inexplicable noise from the cubicles. I didn't even know there was another person in the room with me so I was caught off guard. I turned my head, they didn't sound okay. Then I heard sobbing.
This wasn't a me problem, in hindsight I honestly wish I had just left and went back to class, I'm sure they would've managed just fine, logistically, that's what I should've done, but morally, I just had to turn around.
"...Hello?" I called very timidly.
No one responded.
I waited.
Waited...
"MOMMY!"
So the cubicle swung open, out poured a drooling, sickly looking child.
My mouth dropped open in shock.
I ran over, held him in my arms like the dramatic death scenes in movies. In my head, this kid was dying. I mean I'd never seen someone like this before.
And thats when he shot out the contents of his bowels all over my leg. I dropped him instinctively, ran out and ran wailing to the Staffroom. I think that was the first time the teachers at that school heard my voice.
Poor teachers...
