Prompt #21 - What does Cursed mean to me?
Am I cursed?
I'm sure I must be
My life as I know it
Has changed drastically.
For once, I was happy
Surrounded by friends
But it never lasts
It always ends.
When they see the true me
They run far and wide
To distant themselves
From the things I still hide.
For I was born on Halloween Eve
And since that moment
I've longed to be free
Free of the curse inside of me
Always not knowing if I should believe.
I accuse my birth time
On my downtrodden luck
The loss of my job
The friend who betrayed
The boyfriend who cheated
My nerves, they're all frayed.
I am to blame
For the hurtful words uttered
Disowned by my friends
For thoughts, I have spoken.
My graceful tongue?
It resides in the gutter.
It seems I forever
Take the wrong turn
At every crossroad
With my misfortune
I choose incorrectly
Can I ever learn?
Why can't I be normal
In a world against me
Just once won't a lucky star
Shine down on me?
Instead, my dreams shatter
Forever unseen.
This curse needs taking
Out of my grasp
No more excuses for things wrong in my past
I will accept it
And not blame myself
For a curse that I had no choice about.
No matter my fate
I will not grieve
When I know without a doubt
My curse will never leave.
