Chapter 10

I inhaled deeply as I gazed up into the vast skies then to the skyscrapers downtown. I couldn't think properly. My mind was clouded with so many unnecessary thoughts.

You're being delusional, Jinmi. Of course, anyone would feel that way when someone's face is a few inches away from yours. That's normal.

I looked back. Jeno was staring at me with his devilish smile. His laughter has slowly died down. But the rapid beating of my heart still hasn't calmed.

I've gone mad. He's a just friend. Only will ever be a friend.

Besides, he wasn't even serious a while back. He was trying to tease you, Jin. You shouldn't let yourself get swayed by it. That was nothing. It was an absolutely nonsense. And don't forget the fact that the only person who ever made your heart beat crazy is Jaehyun. Only him and no one else. Get over it.

I sighed and headed back instead. Keeping all of my reveries at the back of my mind.

I walked passed by Jeno as I opened his car again to get my half-drank strawberry milkshake. I rolled my eyes at him and he watched me sip all the remains from my drink.

"Felt too hot from that, eh?" Jeno cooed as he smirked slyly.

"Don't you ever make a move like that on me again. Like ever." I warned him.

But it seems to me like he thinks what I'm saying was a joke.

"Mark was really right!" He chuckled. "You really looked funny with a flustered face on."

I shifted my sight away from him. I couldn't even stare at him for so long now that my stomach still makes this silly little sick thing inside.

"I'm serious, Jeno. What you did wasn't funny." I whispered lowly.

"Friends don't do that to each other."

His smile faded. Maybe he's noticed the seriousness in my tone and the stern expression I have. He stood straight, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Sorry. I must've gone too far. I didn't know you'd be offended by it. I'm sorry, Jin." Jeno apologized. He sounded like a lost, guilty pup.

"Just don't tease me like that again." I stared at him. "Whatever. C'mon. You said you'd make sure we'll both have fun. Show me what the real fun is."

That encounter might make things awkward between us but I chose to shrug the feeling off. I shouldn't let myself get affected by that. I don't want to ruin our Sunday morning just because of what happened.

Jeno opened his car trunk as he brought out what seemed to be a picnic basket and blanket. I rushed towards to him to offer help. He laid the picnic blanket down on the grass. We settled down under the tree so we would have shade from the sunlight.

I looked around us and he sure was right. It was breathtaking up here. I have been to places like this before. Especially when we were still in Vancouver. Mark and I grew up there since childhood but we flew to Seoul because of Dad's business. We used to take trips before as a family during weekends and Dad would bring us up to the mountains and even to the seas.

"What do you think?" Jeno asked. He was placing down different colors and sizes of Tupperware's which I assumed were containers for home-cooked meals.

I gazed at him abruptly as I watched how he carefully opened the containers. He brought a lot of food for us to eat.

"It's peaceful up here. It has the kind of silence that would make me want to come back again and again." I answered.

The location was like a little hill but with an almost completely flat surface on top. It was vibrant green everywhere as the area was surrounded by well-trimmed grass and a few trees around. But there were also small flowers of yellow and white colors blooming from the ground. The only that thing could be heard was the chirping of birds as they flew from one tree to another and the slight sound of roaring cars downtown.
