Somewhere on a glacier, a blizzard blew over, engulfing in it. In the middle of it laid a small facility where soldiers covered in cobalt armour patrolled the area all over, most of them being bored as hell.
One of them, a boy in his late teens leaned against an ice spike erecting from the ground as he listened to his patrol partner's story about his girlfriend back home. The boy's name was Private Leonard Jr Church. He joined the Chorus army in hopes to honour his late mother's memory and to just get away from home after her death caused a cold atmosphere in his home. So far his overall experience wasn't too exciting with some events here and there. Today, he's shadowing some experienced soldiers in a research facility and so far not a great experience. As he listened to his partner, he barely saw the others hanging around, waiting for some action and bitchen' about the cold.
"Man, it's fucking cold."
"I hope we get some action."He couldn't blame them. They spent the last few days at the base just standing around, talking and dying of boredom. Not to mention the blizzard that's blowing past them since yesterday.
"... Yep, as soon as I get back, I'm gonna get down on one knee, and ask her to marry me."
"Hmm?" The boy turned his attention back to his patrol partner.
"Ah, Church, you weren't listening!" shouted his partner.
"Yes, I was, Jimmy! You're gonna propose to that bitch of a girlfriend you got." Private Jimmy joined the army earlier than Church and seemed to do it to impress a girl. To him, Jimmy was a good kid. Annoying as he talked much and seemed to be really naive, but fine nonetheless. He just hoped he never
"That's the important part of the story and what do you mean bitch of a girlfriend?!" demanded Jimmy, getting defensive. "Also, language."
"Dude, she once literally stole your wallet while you were sleeping to buy drinks and cheat on you in one day"
"Ah, I'm willing to forgive her for that"
Church rolled his eyes at that, saying "Jesus, for soneone who's more experienced in life and went to Valhalla, you don't seem to-" Church stopped. He saw something pass by briefly in the snow
"Church, you alright?" asked Jimmy
"Yeah, thought I saw-" A gunshot rang out before Church could finish his sentence. Him, Jimmy and the others saw Private Mickey halfway across the base, the blizzard lighting up as he shot everywhere around him.
"Bloody murder! Bloody murder!" He screamed. He continued to fire at random area until a knife was thrown across his throat, cutting it.
Church stood up straight quickly at the sight of Mickey's body going limp and falling to the ground. Him and the others held out their weapons out, searching for whoever threw the knife.
"Does anyone have eyes on the attacker?!" shouted Jimmy to the others.
"No, can't see shit in this weather!" shouted one of them.
"They must be using it to hide their tracks!" shouted out Church.
Everyone in the area held their ground. One of the men with them held their weapons tightly as he studied the area while another one had an itchy trigger finger. Church held his breath as he looked through his scope of the sniper rifle, trying to find the enemy. Suddenly, one of the soldiers in the trio ahead of him and Jimmy broke away.
"No wait!" shouted Jimmy as the soldier ran into snowy fog, shouting a battle cry and shooting at the distance.
Church then saw a figure run at him. He tried to shoot them but the bullets whizzed by as they jumped at the soldier, grabbing him with their arm, putting him into a headlock before snapping his neck and ran into the snowy fog again. The other tried to fire at them before they disappeared in the fog.
Church quickly turned on his coms as he nervously wiped the snow building up on his helmet's visor. "This is Patrol Squad Bravo One! There's an intruder in our area. Does anyone copy?!" No response came through. He repeated the words twice, a bit more urgently but still gave the same result before saying. "This is FUCKING Bravo one! Can anyone send ANY help?!" No response still came through. "SHIT!"
"Church, what is it?" urgently asked Jimmy, still aiming.
"No FUCKING RESPONSE!"
"Let's just try to stay calm and maybe we can get out of this alive without doing anything irration-"
"COME AT ME, BITCH!" The last member of the trio fired into the snow fog with the LMG as a flare was lit at his feet.
"Like that?!" remarked Church, annoyed.
"Yeah..." said Jimmy in dispair.
The last member fired into the fog, yelling like his life depended on it. Ironically, this lead to the intruder charge at him and stabbed his throat before getting up.
As they got up, Church aimed at their head. Confident that he locked on, he pulled the trigger, intending to blow the bastard's head off. The bullet instead flew past them, about 30 centimetres from their head, causing them to quickly retreat into the fog.
"WHAT?! THAT'S BULLSHIT! I HAD THE SCOPE ON HIS HEAD!" shouted Church, pissed off
"Oh, just fire at will!" Jimmy, feeling the weight of their dire situation, fired into fog, hoping to hit the intruder with Church doing the same. They both fired at every single direction in front of them, not knowing that the intruder was behind them.
Church had Jimmy in his sight for a few seconds before he turned to fire at another direction then looked back to see him gone. He then heard a cry of pain and something tearing, causing Church to look behind him and saw Jimmy's terrible but confusing fate: The intruder was somehow beating Jimmy to death with his own skull.
"THIS DOESN'T SEEM PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE! Hrrk! Blehh..." were the last words that came out of Jimmy's mouth before he fell over and died on the ground.
"Freeze, Fuck head!" Church aimed his sniper at the intruder's back. He watched as the intruder turned around to look at him and that's when Church got a proper look at the intruder.
It was a dirty blond girl, around the same age as him. Her clothing was black, ragged, and a bit ripped, and drenched in blood in the groin area. "Bandit..." He guessed in his head. He also saw three slits of some kind at her neck, not seeming to be wounds. "Faunus...". He looked down and saw that she already had her hand on a knife on her waist, causing him to grip his weapon. The two stared each other down, tension rising between them and waiting for the other to make a move so they could strike. But there was something about this girl which made her look familiar to Church, something coming from the deepest part of his mind.
This, however, was shortlived as Church felt something like a needle pierce his neck. As he reached for it, he could tell the same had happened for the intruder as she also did the same. They both felt something and pulled it out whatever hit them. They were tranq darts.
"Fuck..." Church and the girl softly cursed as they fell onto the snow, beginning to succumb to the effects of the darts. Both try their best to stay conscious looking around to see where it come from. When they see who fired the darts, their vision started to fail along with their legs as they fell onto the ground. The last thing they both saw was a mysterious man in blue armour approaching them, sighing before saying: "Oh, he's not gonna like this."
