Jasmine's Point Of View

It was about midnight. Black poured onto the skies hours ago, yet I'm still here. Still here scrubbing floors and wiping tables that have been scrubbed and wiped about a dozen of times.

My head was swirling in thoughts. I felt this worry on my shoulders and back. These nerves were haunting me. After Justice claimed what he did, I couldn't stay calm. I couldn't stay happy. And I sure as hell couldn't sleep.
"She's my everything... And without her, what am I?"
"You don't get it do you. My daughter has cancer. She's gonna die. I can't fucking breathe without her. How am I supposed to bounce back off that?"

The words rang in my head repeatedly.
Before I knew it, a familiar voice turned my attention.
I gazed around the dark bar before finally mapping Hazel.
Her eyes were dull on the same fact. That her niece had a tumor stuck in her brain.
I hadn't seen her in two weeks for that reason. I had just been explained this yesterday on why. So it was a surprise that she came to visit.

Her appearance was quite different. She grew bags under her eyes. Her now pale skin was one of the first things i noticed.
"Hazel?"
She walked closer to me as tears streamed down her face. I was puzzled on what to do so I just wiped them off and hugged her. I wasn't the best at comforting but I knew that I had to at least try.
"Justice..."
I slowly pulled away from the hug.
"What?"
She trembled and without looking at me, she whispered some more. But these words I knew would kill me.

"I'm sorry."

Tune in next chapter!! It will be a flashback but instead of flashback, it will say a further back date. Just know that the whole story is basically a flashback into this very moment. So at the end, we will come back to present time and see what Hazel tells Jasmine. By the way, Justice is a boy everyone 😁.
