Sam's POV:

"Aww! What the hell!" exclaimed Wade. Once Mia excused herself, I kicked Wade harder.

"Stop it!" he shouted as I hit him again.

"What are you doing?" I shouted back.

"I am eating," he said innocently.

"I almost had it, if you hadn't come butting in."

"Ya! I saw you almost had it. If you were going to kiss, it would have happened already."

"You have no idea," I hit him again.

"Cut it out! For almost five minutes you kept staring at each other. It was never going to work."

"You interrupted on purpose, we 'almost' kissed."

"Yes, brother, that's the point. 'Almost'."

"You!" I yelled and lunged at him.

He effortlessly side-stepped. I lost my balance and fell on my face.

"I am helping you brother, trust me!" he said, bending down.

I got up heavily, "You hooked her up with Darren, how is that helping me?"

"You have the dating experience of a 5-year-old, trust me," he said in a condescending voice, which irritated me even more.

How is Mia dating Darren going to help me anyway? Is Wade blind, has he never seen Darren! Darren is everything that I am not.

We crashed that night in Mia's room. Enthusiastic couples were making out in all other rooms. I kept staring at Mia's sleeping form. She was wearing one of my old shirts, her favourite  nightdress.

"This is why you aren't dating her, yet," Wade whispered in my ears.

"Shut up," I glared at him.

"That's why I decided to help you," he said with an I-know-what-I'm-doing look.

"I never asked for your help."

"You don't have to, brother!"

I shuddered when he called me brother, it never boded well.

The next morning, I helped Mrs. Hall clean the house. Wade and Mia were once again playing on the Playstation.

"Die! Die!" shouted Mia. A mutual feeling, I thought, looking at Wade.

Mia dropped us at home on her way to the parlor. She came back looking even more beautiful.

"Have you decided on what you are going to wear today?" asked Wade.

Mia eyed him suspiciously and said, "Yes."

"Show me," he commanded.

"Why would I do that?"

"Because first dates are important. Dress too well, and you will look like an easy girl. Guys don't like easy girls so you will get dumped once you serve your purpose."

"What nonsense!"

"If you want your first ever date to be successful, listen to me."

"LOL! Why would I do that?"

"Because you have the dating experience of a 5-year-old.'"

"Says the guy who's been dumped so often. Didn't your last girlfriend dump you in a week, it was short even for you. Don't blame yourself though, she probably found out about your micro-penis."

"You!" yelled Wake, but she just stuck her tongue out and left.

I entered my room to find Mia with all her clothes piled on my bed. I pushed them aside, creating space to plant my bottom.

"I thought you had already decided what to wear!"

"I hate to admit it, but Wade has got a point. I don't want to appear too eager or uninterested. I have got nothing to wear!"

"Go with the jeans and top," I threw her a top and a random jacket.

She eyed me skeptically but went into the bathroom to change. The random jacket was a deliberate and pathetic attempt. She came out looking like a runway model. Damn! She could wear rags and still look pretty.
