Maya's Birthday

Maya smiled looking around at everyone while it was her nineteenth birthday. She could barely believe that she had gotten to that stage of her life. She was a mom at 17, married at 18 and now she was expecting her second child although things were not going as she and Josh had hoped for.

The previous week Maya had experienced what had felt to her like labor and Josh had to rush with her to the hospital. Being able to delay the birth Maya had started to do more things regarding the baby room for her son while Josh was spending more and more time at home instead of at work.

"Honey you need to work. You can't stay at home constantly," Maya said as she was playing with Mila.

"I'm just fine with college and work. I want to be here. I don't want another surprise like the other day," Josh said as Maya suddenly felt a strong cramp.

"Josh," Maya said holding her stomach.

"What's wrong?" Josh asked as he went to Maya seeing as she was crunching up her face.

"Something isn't... Ah," Maya said as Josh exhaled grabbing her hospital bag and Mila.

"Exactly why I should be here. Come. We're going to the hospital," Josh said.

"We can't take..."

"Maya everyone loves Mila. One of the nurses will watch her. Come on. Let's go," Josh said as they headed out of the door.
