AKHLUT

The Akhlut of Inuit Mythology.

KINGDOM: ANIMALIA

PHYLUM: CHORDATA

CLASS: MAMMALIA

ORDER: CARNIVORA

FAMILY: LUPCETUS

GENUS: VOLKKIT

Species: V. Hvalulfur

DESCRIPTION

The Akhlut (Volkkit Hvalulfur) of Inuit mythology is a large wolf-orca hybrid that lives in both lands and seas.

WHERE TO FIND

Akhlut originate in Alaska, Canada and Greenland. However, they may be found in cold oceans, like the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans, or cold lands, like Antarctica.

APPEARANCE

The Akhlut looks like a cross between an orca and a wolf. It has webbed feet and a blowhole as well. Due to extreme starvation, it is said to be skinnier than the usual wolf. The skin is both rough and slippery.

BEHAVIOR

They are aggressive and merciless, even attacking you if you fall asleep near the edge. They are said to be forever hungry, like the Wendigo. They should never be approached without food larger than you, otherwise they will kill and eat you.

DIET

The Akhlut is a carnivore, and preys on almost everything, such as deer, boar, moose, humans, penguins etc. It also has been known to bring down polar bears.

SUBSPECIES

Only one subspecies, the Inuit Akhlut or Kak-Whan-U-Ghat Kig-U-Lu'-Nik.

COMBAT

It is suggested to bring a powerful ranged weapon, such as a crossbow or turret. The sheer hunger of the Akhlut will drive it to powerful levels, as well as it's razor-sharp teeth and powerful claws and bite force. It is one of the deadliest creatures of Inuit legend.

CAN IT BE TAMED?

This large wolf-orca is VERY difficult to tame, with only a few being known as tamed. It is suggested to either raise an Akhlut cub-calf, so that it may not attack you, however, it will still attack anything it is not familiar with.

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MAGICAL CREATURES

The Akhlut is the mortal enemy of the Amarok, a large wolf-like beast. It has been known to fight Yetis. Otherwise, they are predators of land-based Arctic and Antarctic mythical creatures, such as the Frost Salamander and Wechuge, but prey for some water based, like Sea Serpents and the Kraken.
